Hi guys

newbie on here, just got an EVO1 and was thinking about putting some oem evo 8 brembo on it.

I know it's been done before, so could some one please sent me that link so i can take notes on it.

Thank you in advance

I've never seen it done before mate,
Im pretty sure theres fitting issues there.
Have a look at the GTO brake upgrade,
do a search, heaps of info on here.

I am unsure why anyone needs a brake upgrade from the standard evo brakes?

Is it all about looking cool or do you think you will get some benefits which your not even sure you need yet as you haven't purchased a good set of pads and rotors and changed your fluids?

There have been a couple of good discussions about Late model brakes on early Evo's over on the EvoOz forum. There have also been some good discussions here about the GTO brake upgrade.

Sourcing some of the parts can be difficult, and if not difficult they can be quite costly. You should also look in to a big brake bolt on kit to see how cost effective it is.

Thanks for all the input, i now have doubt as to what i should do, get the evo8 brakes or just get rotors and pads. I do live in canada, and it's a bitch to try and get all the parts here. Actually getting EVO 8 parts are easier, because i can get it from the US.

From i have been reading on here and other sites...

1> need to convert my 4 nuts hub to 5 (which i can put out from eclipse or talon)
2> Have a custom made caliper bracket for the EVO 8 setup to fit EVO 1

ARe the 2 statement true? Or i am just kidding my self that it's going to be an easy job.

All you input and opinion are well come.

Party. You will need to source "JDM knuckles." Pretty sure what they are referring to are Evo 4-6 knuckles. Search something like "Brembo brakes on 2g" and you will find places whom will be able to supply you with the knuckles.

He's a butcher alright. Why yes, I can place full faith in the front EVO 8 Brembo conversion after seeing these pics... NOT! Id hate to be in the car when they crack and eventually snap off

It's all about the cool

But seriously - Hypo is dead right. A decent set of pads and rotors with the standard EVO1-3 twin piston calipers, combined with a cusco brake stopper and good fluid - you'll be hard pressed to find anything that pulls the car up better with no head-f**k getting it to work.

+ 1

Thats all I've got and I can feel the rear wheels lifting under hard braking! How much more are you gonna want to be able to stop? My car out brakes a certain Evo 6 with it's Brembo's.
If you got the money and it is gonna work out cheaper for you in the long run I guess it could be a feasabe idea. Like if it is gonna cost you $x to get the Brembo's on and $y to keep them going (pads and rotors) verses $<y to keep the stock brakes going as parts are so rare. Then as long as you use a lot of brakes the saving of doing the conversion will be worthwhile. Do some investigation and sums and see what comes out on top..

Depends what you want to use the car for, I have the rear lift issue that you mention Richard on certain parts of my local track but have dealt with it by bias adjustment......Shayne it may be cool:cool: but as you are also tracking your car-I wager you any amount that my car will outbrake yours on the track with its uber cool stoppers lol:p:p

That may be so Scott, but Shayne will make up for it in driving skill and speed through the corners lol :p . Yeah I have to agree, big Brembo brakes and rotors is a big wank factor and its one thing we all wouldnt mind being called a 'wanker' about - they look and brake awesome.

It would be nice if we all could afford it, but a dodgey Brembo conversion is definitely not something we should be sacrificing safety over.
