i'm taking my ebc out for legal reasons and am looking for an alternative method of increasing boost discretely. is anyone using one of those ebay 1.2/1.5 bar actuators with good results?

I have heard of changing the pill in the factory controller which will allow a increased boost level. No need to change the actuator. Someone else on here will be able to explain it better.

From memory arent those actuators on ebay from Japan aswell, i was looking into buying one untill i found a good b/c, id say they would be ideal as the ones from sydney are about$180

I was thinking recently of getting an uprated actuator.
Would it be fair to say you can get is to hold say, 20spi in the top end easier with an electronic boost controller when your gate pressure is 18psi rather than 7psi.

AS its only got to to raise the pressure 2psi rather than 17psi. Less of a pressure to work with?

yeah i basically want to run my boost straight off the actuator and standard solenoid. anybody doing this? is there much spike? might go for 1.2 bar and compensate with a pill for the extra 0.1 or so as 1.5 bar is getting a bit risky on the rods.

That was always my understanding. Trying to achieve a steady 22psi + with a .7 bar actuator seems pretty hard. I'd imagine with an 18 psi actuator it would be a lot easier, and steadier line.

These blokes are having trouble getting their turbos to hold over the mid 20's psi, in the upper rpm. So they are buying holset actuators, must be a stock bolt up except the arm, rated at 23psi and cutting and joining them with the arm of a stock mitsi actuator. Costing them 30-40US to do it.

So we could do a similar thing with even an ~18psi actuator. Might get boost on quicker also even it you boost controller can keep it up. Unless you have the gain set high on a EBC.

It will cost u more then 30-40 to do it here in aus... firstly we dont have holsets as common as they do in the states, so your probably looking at around $70 to bring one over from usa or about 100 to get one in aus?.. whats the point honestly you can buy 1.5 bar ones for the TD05H and TD05HR's for like $170.. so why bother ???....

just my opinion.

try about 100-110 landed. That seller kando_dynamic sells uprated actuators, 15, 18, 22psi for the early 16g's at that price.
If we were do do like the Americans we'd just pay more postage for the holset actuator off ebay. Shows what you can do with half a brain though.

I also posted it because it has good discussion on uprated actuators.

Fair enough, i dont know why the americans do as they do.. its stupid and time consuming! ok it might work.. but hell it will take a good few hours to do!
