Burning Cat??

Hey Guys,

I have a dropped a 4G63t into my GSR Galant for an everyday car and am finding when i give it a bit iam getting a sweet rasberry smell out of the exhaust.

As far as i can tell its my cat getting cooked as its a factory exhaust and new, iam running around 14psi.

Anyone come across this before?

My biggest concern is that its leaning out and heating up the pistons.

Factory GSR Galant exhaust?

Pull the plugs out,if theyre white and chalky youre lean.

Theres a light on the dash on the VR4 which comes on wen the cat overheats,thats why theres a sensor in the cat,i doubt ud have that hookd up though..?

A Gsr galant 2 inch exhaust is wayyy too small,it'd sound like a choked hairdryer... :shock:

Yea sounds pretty chocked up when on boost, but its almost as quiet as factory. No one can tell its not factory,inc cops. So ill prob leave it that way. Got the VR4 for my mod car,just wanted something a bit quicker for my everyday car than the stock GSR.

I have data logged it and it doesnt seem to be leaning out or detonating.

Just wanted to know if a melting cat smells wierd? or if its something else eg pistons,turbo??
