As the topic says - could I run with 17" x 7.5" rims on my CC Coupe? I'm using an EVO1 suspension setup.

I think that you may start to get in to struggle territory... I know that you can just run 7.5" with the normal cc coupe/lowered/roller guard combo without encountering too many scrubbage hassles... but i assume that the evo has a slightly wider track...

*edit* just thinking about it you have a sedan front end dont you? this should help

17x7.5 and 18x7.5 and 40 offset in a coupe are OK as long as you lip the front guards and rear arches (pump the rears if you can). The 18's are a mad fit and in all honesty I was going to do it myself but stuck with the 17's to allow for a better ride quality (plus white rims look bigger anyway  ).

Mik-e had trouble in his coupe so I remember he cut the section of the rear bar out where it bolts inside the wheel arch (which gets rid of the bolt). Not exactly sure what he did but I know he used metal cv boot straps to hold the bar up instead of the bolts in the arch which were good for another 10mm clearance. I've got coil overs with camber adjustments and I fully adjusted them in but it wont be enough on the back unfortunately. I'll try and grab you some more details soon.

WRONG!!!

I never used CV straps

I cut the tab shorter but still left a little bit left and i made my own hole and bolted it on... im still runnin it like that and no problems :)

Oh, then whose car am I thinking of?? was it a temporary thing we had to do to one of our cars? I can remember putting a strap on one of the bastards, I thought it was yours :?

A guy at work might sell me a set of 5zigens "Copse", they're 17x7.5, unsure of offset though

They're 1-piece but look like 3 piece, multi-stud 4x114.3 and 100, gold/bronze in colour (may change to gunmetal if I get them) with a silver lip - look awesome

He gave me two to trial fit - they're running with 235/45 tyres!!! On the fronts they juuuuust miss the underside of the strut (where the spring sits) and I don't think they'll fit under the rear arches....

Tyrewise - What would anybody recommend? 215/**?

215/40 is perfect for those rims, are they the 5ZR rims?

Yep - that's them!! But the centre is bronze/gold colour with a blue 5ZR logo. I'm looking at powdercoating them a black chrome or gunmetal and keeping the silver lip :D

But I need to check the clearance at the rear first and foremost - the last thing I want to do is buy them out of excitement (like we all have done at least once!!) and then find the activity snowballs into a huge time and cost effort to make them fit due to lack of planning and thought.

I can only afford to do this once - so it's gotta be right!!

The bronze does look good against my car's blue, but.... gunmetal or black chrome would look farkin' hot! I'll see how the fitment trial goes tonight when I get a rim with no tyre to try on the rear before I start planning what colour they stay/go! Gotta restrain myself a little bit!!

Here's my 17 x 7.5" rims, 40 offset, with 205/40/17 Lexani tyres (US brand available from a few places). The Lexani's have a very strong square side wall instead of a round wall so even though they are only 205, their width is more like a 215. We have a set of Lexani's on the Mrs car as well and I've been pretty happy with them for the low cost of $110 each. I've had better tyres but for the money I was happy to throw a set of these to start with

I also played with adjusting the lower arm in and out, plus lowered the coil overs to get the desired height :) They fit in there nice right now but I might still drop the car another 10-20mm yet to get barely a pinky finger clearance to the wheel arch  I had my heart set on 18's but after fitting these 17's the white colouring makes them look bigger than what they actually are, plus the tyres will be cheaper to replace and the ride quality a bit better than having 18's :) The front fenders are a different story and the wheels are a VERY snug fit, even with camber adjusted

Well I tried a rim on the rear, the inside of it comes within about 1mm of the rear control arm

The guy has told me that he has 5mm spacers for them, but I'm a bit reluctant to go that way.

What to do?!?

Dayam... looks like the offset of the 17x7.5 rims that you wanted earlier in this thread arent 40. I wouldnt use spacers if thats what the guy is trying to get you to do  Look for a similar rim in the right size mate, I'm pretty sure Lenso have something that looks identical and Lenso are a bloody good wheel :)

To re-visit an old topic.

If I was to go 5-stud would EVO5 or 6 rims (offset +38, width 7.5") work on a CC? Would probably run 215 tyres.

Those rear control arms are a pain in the ass! mitsu obviously didnt realise their customers would upgrade to deep dish rims!!!

i'm running 17x8s on my lancer with +35 offset they just clear the rear control arms by a few mm

What tyres are you running and have you got any pics of them against the front and rear guards?

If I can expand my search to a 17x8 +35 instead of just looking for 17x7.5 +38 then I may have a better chance of getting a set of rims.
