Okay, i've had a **** load of car audio just sitting her gathering dust for 10 months, and I think its about time to get it installed. Ive got a few questions for ya's.

1) Should I ditch my Pioneer DEH-P8650 and 12 disc stacker in favour of an iRiver?

2) Can anyone reccommend me someone in Melbourne who is familiar with doing a custom box set up in the boot of my VR4 for the 12" JL sub ive got? Does anyone have Arthur (VR4PWR)'s email address?

3) Will one of THESE be ok to run one of THESE??
The sub has to be run @ 4ohms right?

1) no idea, what's an iRiver? (Personally i'd keep the stacker if the head unit is mp3 capable).

2) Pickup a random copy of an SPL magazine (like car audio australia) and there'll be tonnes of shops advertising in melbs.

3) Yes, Yes again, and yes, 4 ohms. You'll have to bridge the amp and remember amps have to be mounted upright or horizontal. You can't mount an amp on the bootlid etc.

An iRiver is the future, its basically like having a windows media player mp3 player, with a 3.5" screen and 40GB of storage. Throw away those ipods today. lol

The only thing im not sure on, is a graphic equaliser to trim the sound in car.

Well, the warranty for the sub is void when you run more than 900W RMS through it, not that i'm applicable for the warranty anyway, but the amp is good for 800Wx1, is that its peak?

All these figures and numbers, half of it is marketing, and its hard to really know what the real deal is, especially if your a high end car audio noob like me.

if anything get your hands on a new head unit that has an audio in jack on it, that way you can plug whatever media device into it. I personally have an i-pod with an fm transmitter, it works really well and have had no problems with it.

800x1 will be peak power with 2 channels bridged giving it an impedance of 4ohms, Theorectically to get your rms from the multiply by 1/√2, so your rms would be about 550w, but the manufacturers will say that rms is actually about 1/3 or peak power which would be about 270w, big difference there, i don't know which one is actually correct, but it gives you something to think about

Okay, ive just been talking to VR4PWR about doing the install.

he said that the because the sub I have is dual voice coil, I need a monoblock amp. Ill probably go for a Rockford Fosgate P6001 bd.

Now, how many of you guys out there have subs in your cars? Can you show me some pics of your intalls?

I got my car audio done by Freeway Car Audio Malvern. The guys there are top notch and know what they are doing.

Hi Dre, yep I saw your car today outside Jam Factory. I was just coming home from my cruise to Mt Dandenong today. Damn u know u have to pay $4 now to go to the lookout? what tightasses!

Is my car that loud??? I wouldn't know since I'm always in the driver's seat. The exhaust is not too loud but I think the reason for that is due to the sound deadening material they put around the boot to stop that freaking tinny sound you get with big bass.

Haha i know, who did you go cruising with? I should have come too! Your car isnt that loud, something in my brain picks up on the exhaust note of a 4G63!

i have a nice custom install in my boot, houses 2x12" subs, but the box would probably be more suited to 2x10" or 1x12" or maybe even 1x15", i can email u a pic if you want

okay, here's 89_GSR_4_ME's boot install, I think im going to go for something like this, so its easy to remove for drags!!!!

Yes im a big fan of car audio.... i had a fairly decent install in my honda...
had 2 amps in bootlid and two pioneer twelves in a box..

I would say 89 GSR For Me's install would be the best and most practical...
dre try to think up something where the battery and amps and strut brace all are hidden or look neat or whateva.... **** the boot of a vr4 wont beable to anything in it once ide be finished with it :?

is there a way... of building a massive box... that the brace is hidden in and the battery and the amps.... But u can take the box out easier by pulling out two or 3 plugs and unstrapping velcro and having the battery and strut brace left and the box with amps and subs or whateva gone
