Parked my car at the shopping center to deposit a cheque at the bank. Left my car and as I was leaving I saw a s13 parking next to me.

Left the bank about 15 minutes later and there were cops and people around my car. I was like wtf? Went up and heard the car next to me just got stolen, the s13.

Unlucky for him. Lucky for me? Mind you the car park was full and it was right next to the shops. That's broady for ya haha.. no offense to anyone living in broady

Bugger, my mates S13 could be open with a commodore key and a different S13 key crazy stuff they dont make them hard to steal.

I'm not having a go at you mate but it's not the smartest thing to post up on a forum.

mate, Im sure not "all" s13 can start each other... not a stupid thing to say on a forum at all.. in fact in saying this it might get the owners of these cars to get immobilisers and alarms installed...

If someone really wanted your car, you could have the immobilisers in the world and that wouldnt stop them from taking it.

in this day and age, people hear an alarm and dont even look, i know i dont, so many alarms go off for no reason..
and even if i did see someone hopping into a car, your not going to yell and say oi gtfo that car, how can you be sure its not his? if he has a key that opens the door and starts it, then he looks like a perfect car owner to me...

so your saying if he left it there for 15 minutes, same day, same person went to steal it in the middle of the shopping centre BUT he had a remote immobiliser he would have been able to steal it? if only he had wiring diagrams stored on a pocket pda for EVERY immob and could chip abnd chop wires as fast as a machine i still highly doubt his car would have been stolen.

your "If someone really wanted your car, you could have the immobilisers in the world and that wouldnt stop them from taking it." doesnt really apply to this situation..

Yeah there has been heaps of cars stolen

on NS in the last week it has almost been 1 a day

Yep all they need is a tilt tray and the pride and joy is gone.

Due to these things happening, I was thinking that maybe T4G should think about getting a group buy on tracking systems?

These tracking systems are basically super alarms. They come with a key FOB and once locked, the tracking guys call you if the car is moving without being unlocked, or if its been broken into etc.. they can even shut the engine off remotely in sync with cops chasing...

I enquired about a system a while back and it was $1600 installed which includes 12 months monitoring, and after that 12 months is over, its about 30 bux a month...

Sure beats insurance as they'll probably find the car missing an engine/sound system

i been looking at getting one of these tracking systems in my car there are a couple of companys doing them in oz.

so if there is a group buy count me in

Depending on what car you drive, insurance is a waste of money.

i agree.. my dad offered to pay full comp on my car the first year i got it.. but i told him not to bother.. i'm only 3rd party

how much is full comp a year for our cars with the mods we have? 2k? 2.5k? i rather save that and if i ever do damage my car in an accident i rather spend that 2k on a workshop i know that will repair my car.

My mate had 2x cars stolen from his driveway before he invested in a tracking alarm - he reckons it's the best $$$ he's ever spent on his car.

We disconnected the battery to do some work on his engine and within about 40 seconds the alarm company rang him up to ask what was going on! He'd forgotten to ring and make them aware of what he was doing with the car.

Broady huh? Crap that's not too far from my place!!! I thought they cleaned that hole of a place up?!? When they catch the scum that steal cars, the owner of the vehicle should be allowed to drag them down the freeway behind their car then kick them in the nuts.

I could never find a place that did third party and gave agreed value. That said I always thought... what if I write my car off myself, accidents do happen and I would prefer to have something left over other than a stinking wreck :D
