do not the new rad in.. if u have done a hg and its already going milky.. you will just block up ur new rad!! which will cost about 100 to flush abd clean.

put it bak to wen it was wen it stopped.

if it was milky in the radiator it should be milky on the dipstick

but definelty dont put the new radiator in till you find out whats definelty wrong and its been corrected. ive seen one too many new radiator get clogged up because the cooling system still had a blown headgasket and milky oil

hey i was think gsrs and evos dont have an oil cooler in the radiator like patrols do they because i was think patrols oil coolers always leaked into the radiator i thought it might be a big guess

i think my radiator started leaking,
which in turn increased my temps,
which then put additional pressure on the head gasket causing it to blow.
all will be confirmed shortly :)

i definetly believe your theory about the radiator leaking and puttin extreme heat in the combustion chamber in turn detonated and blew head gasket i had that exact same problem with my cb lancer gsr

yer it sounds like it i did a headgasket on a ce glxi last week and it had a similar problem a cracked radiator top tank caused it too get hot and blew head gasket and its probally the 10th head gasket on any lancers in the past year with a split top radiator tank

Considering that your engine got hot enough to shut itself down, I think you are going to be up for alot more than just a new HG and radiator. I'd be pulling head off and getting it checked to make sure it is still flat and hasn't softened up. I'd be stripping the crank caps off to check the bearings for pickup. I'd send the block away to get tested for cracks and checking it and the pistons for scoring. I'd also be getting the block chemically cleaned to make sure no oil has gunked up and blocked any oil galleries.

So no water got into your oil?

Keep in mind, water / oil in your block / over your bearings is not good.
I know when my sleeve cracked, the water and oil were seperated and not milky. I had water sitting at the bottom of the sump and oil floating above. The dipstick didn't show signs of water at all.

If there is evidence of water in your oil system and if it has been sitting, you could possibly also have some rust building internally.
Regardless, the gunk is not good as expressed in the above posts.

Have you drained the oil? if not, drain it and see if you have water in the oil. If you have signs of water, pour some cheap stuff in and turn it over and get oil into your galleries and journals. Also, might be a good idea to pull the plugs out and get some wd40 into the cylinders. This will prevent any water (if any) to disperse and stop the cylinder walls / tops of your pistons / rings from starting to rust.

Better safe than sorry!

As for cost, it is quite time consuming so you'll be up for a good days work and the cost of the headgasket + other small parts.

If all is good, might be a good time to get a cometic gasket and some ARP headstuds!

Who's doing the work?

Nah my dipstick showed no sign of milkiness. It was fine. simply the radiator.
If i was more knowledgeable id pull it apart myself and have a look but i dont have that experience.
I was going to bring it down to Creatd as they do most of my work, but he said the best he could do is end of January. (Cry)
so im lookin at bringing it somewhere else. Hopefully have it for the summer holidays!
Any recommendations for workshops? would it be safe at any basic mechanic?

Where are you located?

Give Springy a call, they have slowed down in LPG conversions due to low price in fuel so I'm sure they can look at it for you.

Where are you located also?
I've got a towie mate who does them cheap.
