Hey,

I nearly fell of my chair when I saw our cars listed as a Supported Vehicle on the Chip Torque page here -----> http://www.chiptorque.com.au/category/vehicles/mitsubishi/

We are down the bottom :p Anyways was wanting to know if anyone has any experience with the XEDE Processor they install and tune? Also have been looking into the UniChip as well, its seems like a fairly well designed piggyback and can be installed and tuned by Hi-Torque Performance here on the Gold Coast. Any other options you guys can think of at all?Preferably something I can take to someone and get them to do as I have a rather nasty habit of messing with things I don't know enough about and then completely rooting them!

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Cheers, Mike

Yea I looked into those, but where would I get these installed and tuned? would need to be someone fairly familiar with the hardware and software.

I was a bit suprised. There is a local (to me) awd dyno. It is attached to a car yard that imports/deals later evo and some wrx. I thought for sure they would use ecuflash/evoscan. But nooooo they dont.
Didnt want to touch ecmlink either. Advised a haltech.

I agree with bazeng. And I think your ecu maybe the same as a 2g one so ecmlink full is available. Vr401 knows.

Its a no brainer.. ECMLink. The Exede processor and the Unichip are really just piggy back setups. These are not even comparable to rewriting the factory ecu via ECMLink. I can make this statement, as I've tuned them all ( including Haltech and most of the aftermarket ECUs, at my workshop. I actually prefer Haltech to most of the other programmable aftermarkets as well !)

Jack, I feel for you guys in Perth. There MUST be some one in Perth that is or can do ECMLink. Its super easy to use !!! And HyperMike.. hopefully some one up your way on this Forum can jump in and help in your area or Brisbane ?

Late evo ecu is the way to go. There must be someone that can flash tune evo ecus. I did so much write up on how to wire it up.

Yea I had a look at that write up, honestly I think its best if can I just take it somewhere, leave it there and pick it up when its done, haha sounds lazy, but its for the best. I'm sure to screw something up if I mess around with it, and I have NO hands on experience working with ECUs at all.

With you there Mike, I love the idealology of self tuning, but I think maybe enthusiasm continues on from where skill ends for me... Simple little mods with a supporting chip or similar would be ideal for me.

It should be plug and play?? Not 100% sure...got any pics of your original ecu to confirm?

Meek can rewrite the chip to suit whatever mods you do down the track....you could post the chip to him for that.

Sooooo super stupid question time...where abouts it the ECU located in the RVR? Had a quick look around the passanger footwell to no avail?

Google tells me this....not sure if correct??mounted on the floor tunel below the radio, take side panels off 2 screws each, undo the 4 nuts on the ecu, unplug etc, pull it out.

Ive just emailed ecmlink to confirm they do a package for the 97 hypergear.
Spoke to John at next up performance in Salisbury today, he can tune ecmlink.

On the ecmlink forum they have removed the v3lite version from sale. Their forum says that there is a limited number of chips so they are not offering the cheaper package.
The evo1-3 version is still available.
Im not sure if the rvr takes the 2g or evo1-3 setup.but you have obviously sorrted that out.

Im just going to self tune. Im nearly there on my ecmlink and I dont think it will be a huge leap into evoscan/flash.
Although 3rd gear pulls on the hwy at 100mph are not that good a idea. Maybe a night at the drags will be needed when it comes to putting some timing in.

Also, the guys on ecmlink talk about a good book to teach tuning. I will be getting a copy as they say the language used is very similar to that used on ecmlink. I find the terms used for ecmlink is similar to evoscan.
If you are thinking of the late evo ecu, then download 'merlin tuning guide'
