Need some help guys.
VR-4's always have Red rocker Covers. i wanted to be a bit dsifferent so i went and got my cover and front brace powder coated in gloss black. now it looks wicked but the rest of my engine bay looks so old and sh!t.

heres a before pic:

After pic:

^^ this pic is for some reason A LOT brighter so it makes everything look really faded...and doesnt do the cover and brace justice.

now, i have some very nice aluminium 2 1/2" cooler piping to slot in there to get rid of the crappy stock flexi hose. the pipng will have nice Samco or SFS black silicon hosing. Ive got a billet throttle body mouth to go on. and i will probably be moving the Air can down into where the battery should be. and making an Aluminium turbo intake for it with black hosing aswell.

my question to you guys is. should i get the air can powder coated in gloss black? should i get the inlet manifold, plenum and throttle body done in black aswell? if not what colour? i was thinking of just hitting the radiator, engine mount and timing cover with some gloss black high temp paint. you rekcon it would look cheap? or it would be too much black? if u know what i mean.

sorry i shouldve added that i dont want anything chrome/mirror polished. chrome doesnt do much for me.
what do u rekcon if i got the plenum/TB and intake mani done in gloss black but the words "Cyclone turbo intercooler" done in red? maybe even the writing on the rocker cover done in red?

i think like what roger said,

polished inlet manifold and throttle body, polished piping, black everything else.

how did the rocker cover fit after the powder coating? did it warp at all?

a bit off topic, but have you thought about how you might clock the turbo to get it to match dre's old cooler piping?

i dont think you can with those turbos

he's going to have to get the pipes modified, or buy a pipe with a 180degree bend in it

you can do it, but you have to make a new mount fo the wastegate actuator, or buy a pipe like the one shown on the extremepsi kit that i made a link to in the Fleebay thread

i honestly cant be fucked trying to clock the turbo and mucking around with the wastegate. ill just get a new straight pipe and one bend made. no big deal. i just dont wanna lose my air con to fit the cooler
red writing is sounding good.
im trying to keep it "low key" so when i do put some goodies in there and a coip wants a bonnet lift there are no bright/striking/eye catching colours. yet to anyone that knows what they are talking about they might just think its a nice sublte look.

IMO its important to work to a 3 or 4 colour scheme.... Black, silver and a colour or two of your choice - engine bay's should follow the same principal if possible. You've obviously got black, then you've got the polished alloy/silver which are the 2 main colours used. A third colour will break it up and a 4th just for highlighting or accentuating something you want to stand out. I reckon throw in some blue via use of silicone hosing and vacuum lines, some silver from stainless intercooler piping, BOV etc, and maybe a touch of red for FPR, ignition leads or whatever :D Braided lines and fittings are silver, red and blue so they fit right in 8) Many of the best engine bays I've seen limit themselves to 3 or 4 colours as IMO I reckon too many colours looks crap

Rocker cover and strut tower bar look great mate! As for colour schemes, like EVO-00X said, pick 3 or so colours to stick too. Youve got black, id get the intake and thermostat housing cleaned up (for that fresh matte alloy look) CLuTz's IC piping and cooler will match that nicely, and then get some nice samco or similar silicone bits and peices in the colour of your choice.

rofl umm...no mate. pretty damned funnyt though

cheers GSRSOL, sounds like u have a plan. might get the aircan done aswell and just move it to where the battery usually is and make a CAI for it.

i rekcon im gonna remove the coating over the letters on the cover and polish them up. then itll match the piping and shit

you can also match the intake...... i'll take better picks when there on the car.....

That looks sweet as....but F*$% GOD DAMNED it S@$# C#* i didnt want my engine bay to look like any one elses. ive got my dirty mits on a GSR galant intake manifold, so ill get that done.
definately show me some pics when its all together! is yours powder coated or painted?

actually my engine bay looks kinda bland now took the fancy sheit out but it still dont look bad....... and the intake is finished with same paint the hondas rocker covers are done in, comes out rough, but i gave it some shine with another coat of shiny heat paint.........

ok guys just finished the full install of intake and extractors what you guys think of my color scheme?

Hmm ... Looks different....

I prefer a little more colour in my bay, but hey that is just me... If I was going to be going the black like that, I would also put in all the Turbosmart sleeper range of products... Now that would really suit it ...
