Is there anyone that can comply an E3 in australia, as i can get a hold of one in japan relatively cheap? I have made a few phone calls and come up with nothing other than only E5 onwards can be complied! Why is this so? And then i suppose that if E5 are the only ones that can be complied...who carries the licence for complying them and how much?

I think that the evo3 can only be complied as a personal import for an australian that has been in japan for a number of years, and owns an evo3 that wants to bring it into Australia as a private import.

E1/2/3 as they were locally sold are -not- eligable for SEVS... or RAWS (not pre-88).

So Personal import or Rally import only..

Only other way around it is to reshell a GSR, but that costs serious serious money and you still don't end up with CD9A or CE9A on your firewall.

E5/6.5 can be complied by Kamikaze motors in nunawading that I know of, i'm sure there's other places tho. You can always ring DOTARS direct and try and get the info from them.

E5/6 can be complied by another mob in qld aparently and they claim 200 compliance plates for 5's and 6's no idea who tho?

I own a genuine evo 3.The guy who i bought my car off lived in japan for two years and personally imported the car. he has photos of it in japan. He didnt want to sell the car he loved it he still calls me all the time to see how my car is going.

As said b4 they cannot be brought in, hence why they cost so much more over the GSRs with EVO engines in them.

Good luck there was one in the trading post on the 6/10/05 a silver one in sydney. I didnt call him up to see if it was sold. But was asking $27000 stock.

I searched for a long time.

All the best

the reason evo I II III cant be complied is cos they dont pass adr crash tests, even with intrusion bars etc, i remember it being something to do with the front end of the car..

Thats right, you cant even get them compled in NZ anymore.

They sold the GSR locally, so theres another reason for you too. :p

My E3 is complianced under the Vic Roads rebuild scheme...actually when I was looking for a car most of the early evo's seemed to have been registered under this scheme. A simple stamp on my strut tower (REBV******) and away it went. The REBV scheme meant it replaced a aussie car that was one the road, my rego label says its a normal lancer, but there is meant to be engineering paperwork at vic roads (which they have lost, tried contacting them 2 years ago). Although you cant register the car is NSW, QLD has a reciprocal registration scheme that allows any car registered in a previous state can be registered up here.

In actual fact, the REBV is Rebuilt Vehicle. What it is supposed to be for was, a reshell. Some cars did go through as complete evo's, and hence your car.

The other part of this scheme, was the replacement vehilce scheme. These cars would have a REPV, number attached. This is in fact a complete evo, which was brought here to replace a damaged aus vehicle.

Its a very grey area, but legally, only the REPV is a genuine vehicle. As the REBV numbers should be reshells.
