Hi guys hope you are all well these days,

I'm getting an intermittent noise that I'm unsure of. The noise pretty quiet and is a rattle alot like a bearing. It's coming from the passengers side and I can never seem to catch it occurring when i jump out of the car and have a look under the hood. I do have a noisy lifter and know it's not that, it's a very different noise and not a regular pattern like a lifter is, It's much more like a bearing noise. I know it's none of the bearings in the timing gear because these were all replaced and double checked by a mechanic just to be sure the tensioner was right and everything else was tight.

I was browsing on the net last-night and came across this forum " http://www.variousto...r-problems.html " and I'm wondering about what this guy 'Stewart DIBBS' says in the third reply to this post where he talks about the crank pulley having a 'rubber anti-vibration ring' in-between the crank pulley and the stud behind the lug nut. Any truth to this before I investigate the noise further?

My alternator belt is stuffed but I have no marks on the crank case and everything seems as though it's aligned when running although I'll double check tomorrow.

Thanks for any reply' that might eventuate

ok so after further study there is a great little page on how these crank pulleys are built as I'm sure most of you are already aware, and I hope this helps someone out there aswell. http://www.machv.com/tip11cranpul.html

So I now understand the crank pulley has a rubber separator inside it, I'll look at the pulley tomorrow to make sure it'll hold up till i get a new one, by the sounds of things so far it will be the pulley.... I hope

It's the water pump, :D cause I was a tight arse when i did the belts I didn't replace the water pump, so I copped it.
