Ok, so today i finally removed my driveshafts and fitted new cv boots to my inner CVs.

Hoping this helps a few, as I didn't get time really to take photos, but only took a couple of hours, so here goes. Basically you'll need.

2 x Kelpro COB-045 CV Boots ( comes with grease and ties. These are slightly larger on 1 end but will fit.
Rattle gun for stubborn nuts.
34mm socket for axle end onto hub
Usual spanners and socket set
wd40
Pliers ( couple of pairs will be good)
long nose pliers
circlip pliers
tie rod separater
bucket + degreaser + rags.
new gearbox oil.
your favourite drink.

Drivers Side.

Basically, jack it up and sit it on axle stands. rip front wheels off.
Take split pin out of 34mm nut and take the nut off the hub.
Remove split pin and nut nut from tie rod, pop tie rod out.
Remove 14mm lower nut from swaybar linkage onto lower control arm and let it out.
Remove the 2 clips from the brakes lines so they can move around.
Remove the 2 bolts from the bottom of the struts.
You'll now find if you move the hub around you can get the axle out. So get it out so it's sitting out of the hub. Put a bucket underneath where the axle pops out as it'll spew a bit of oil.
Now, give the axle a yank and it should " pop" out, as there's a circlip on the drivers side which holds it in.

Passengers side.
Basically the same, but it has an extra bracket with 2 14mm nuts bolted onto the block. Undo these and it will pull out.

You should have something looking like this :

Ok, pull the old clips off the boots, and you'll see the inside of the cv itself, clean as much of the old grease out as you can with a rag. Take the 2 circlips off ( 1 big one holding the cv together, and another on top of the spline inside). pull it all apart making sure you take note of which way the 2 bearing holders go. it should pull all apart. clean all the grease out. Then reverse the process stuffing as much grease back into the cv and bearings as you put it together, make sure you use all the packet it gives it. Slide the boots on, then put the big circlip back on, fill the top with remaining grease etc. Next put the steel ties on the ends of the boots as tight as anything ( 2 people is easier if you can).

Then just reverse the process, slide the axles in until they click, bolt struts back on, swaybar, tie rod and the 34mm nut. degrease and clean as you go, especially all the old grease and shit off the old boot.

After you've got it all back together, make sure you either refill the gearbox with oil, or dump all the old oil and completely refill it. I had only done my box oil about 500km ago, so i just refilled mine back up.

Hope this vague thread helps, i did it all just by looking at it, so you should be able too.

Pete.

Good one Pete, only bit different I so is crack the 34mm nut on the driveshaft before I lift car off the ground.

Oh yep, i cheated by using my makita battery rattle gun, had enough grunt to remove everything i could get to, which is a start. I was going to drop the ball joint but when i looked at it again i could see that i could push the axle back in a bit which helped. Pretty stoked that it worked, now to get it aligned and happy days again !
