Hey guys, after finishing building up my ggsr now ive found myself bored.
So my plans are now to use my 7 bolt ggsr block (which after 200k k's on it is in very good condition, build it up making it a high comp n/a, cams and all the good sheit to allow it to rev to about 8 8.5k.
Id be putting it in a cc lancer not sure whether coupe or sedan depends whats availible and at the right price.
So what im basically asking is, can i use any sort of stronger rods then the puny little ggsr ones?
Also is my 7 bolt basically the same as the evo 1-3's so i could use maybe their rods?
So what im aiming for in the next 6 or so months is a high powered high revving FWD, chose cc lancer cause they are pretty light yeh, but i havent discarded the fact of maybe a RWD lancer or something similar..
Give us your thoughts..
Matt

Lighter rods and lighter pistons will help the motor to rev higher. Heavier/ beefier (ie. designed to suit turbo applications) will hinder that somewhat.

blue print the block
shave the head and block
metal head gasket
arp head studs
balance the stock pistons and rods
racing crank
port polish head
custom intake (resonance per runner is important at high RPM)
larger throttle
eliminate balance shafts
280+ cams (redline above 8K)
adjustable cam gears
stand alone ECU
4-1 extractors

fairly close list to what i did on my Hyper N/A

just remember for N/A, keep it simple, cause theres no boost, keep it light and balanced.....

Or just build a boosted one that revs to 8.5k, is very possible. I know i have one that's built to rev safely 9.5k. Limiter is set to 8.6k and still making power.

I can get the custom ground cams to do it, At a good price too.

yeh but cb's are ugly :p
cc you can make look half decent :p
also thinking bout a VL turbo lol.. dont diss cause i can get it sprayed and get parts real cheap..
light and revvy yeh, took apart the old ggsr engine cause i was bored, the rods have g6e casted into them, are these the same as the lancer gsr stock 1.8 rods? i thiought a saw a photo somewhere with gsr rods having that casting..

well nah not ugly but you know how theres cars that get a bad rep from alot of others thrashing, wrecking their cars, i think cb's are one of em..
my galant gsr is a perfect example, the amount of hatches and se galants that are total shit boxes make me look at mine like its amazing(which it isnt) but yeh..

lol a car is wat you make it, who cares what others have done to theres!

I reckon pick up a CB lancer with a fucked engine, some VR4 rods and crank, evo pistons, GGSR head (cheap) and VR4 cams, decent clutch and slicks a T3/T4 and an adaptronic ECU and go HARD

how dare you !!

If I were to do a N/A project I'd get a Satria and fit a 4G92 MIVEC Basically turning it into a cyborg. :)

i'd use the 4G92 mivec head on the 4G93 block ;) (I have a mate who's got that engine combo with forged rods/pistons and a supercharger - 230ish kW@wheels and another mate who's running a big garret turbo and making over 400kW).

The rear wheel drive idea is nice, but hard in the mitsubishi platform... maybe try something like an MG, or similar? Desecrate an old Alfa Romeo hahah...
