hey guys

just wanted to see if anybody else is breaking driveshafts like i am
its annoying and painfully expensive..

this is the second front driveshaft that i have snapped....

first was the front left, and now the front right...

the first one took off the splines, the second, its busted inside the cvjoint..
all from normal turns on the street...

anybody know of any upgrades?

currently the car is only in fwd and has front kaaz lsd...
and both breaks were made just taking off normally...

maybe its the clutch?
anybody with heavy clutches breaking stuff???
jstyle? dre? matt??? evo boys??

I saw fidanza driveshafts somewhere online......... supposed to be heaps stronger.

but you shouldnt be breaking standard ones on a normal take-off..... :?

lsd's/lockers put a lot more stress on the driveshafts so maybe that's why, but on normal take offs? that sounds strange.
i havent broken anything yet (touch wood)
slowboyracing has some driveshafts for our cars on the online shop now. fidanza ones and "the driveshaft shop" ones i think.

mmmm, perhaps when u are doin tight/slow turns, instead of the wheel slipping and chirping away its just loading up/flexing the driveshafts, ultimately causing them to break?

could it have something to do with wrong size drivesafts for the lsd like in the other thread on driveshafts?

nah, im breaking mine on the outer part of the driveshafts, not in the gearbox

the break inside the cv joints (all the bearings and stuff just shatter)
also the splines just shred...

ill give my other rebuilt shafts a shot, see how long they last...

Im sure he has a couple up his sleave

I've only broken 2x RR, the last one I got was brand new from AFAS, at a reasonable price.

i've got 3 more pairs to go through...

fingers crossed they hold up..
i just wont drive my car on the street as much... weekend warrior from now on..
