Dudes,

I am fitting up a Plazmaman piping kit and have a bit of a dilemma I have a stock intercooler and the silicone joiners are 63mm.

Should I just get some taper silicone joiners or should I make the effort to get the end pipes changed?

Also have I got everything in the right place?

IMO you should get the intercooler outlet/inlet enlarged to 63mm. Did the kit come with two bits of pipe specifically for the intercooler? If not, speak to MEEK as I think he sells them. It'd make the job alot neater IMO and you'll be paying big $$$ for two decent quality silicone reducer pieces anyway.

It also looks like you've got everything going where it's supposed to go, but you'll need to get a 60deg joiner for the piping to throttle body join and it'll need to be a reducer piece too as the throttle body is 75mm from memory. I've had a 60deg aluminium bend welded to the end of my 'cooler pipe so I could use a straight reducer silicon piece and again, it makes the job a bit neater IMO.

I think I will take it to an exhaust place on Monday to get it welded up hopefully they have some 63mm tube they can weld on.

I have a nice 60 deg turn but its a bolt on bit.... but from looking at the E3 throttle body it wont bolt on... must be for the VR4 or something.

Also... the turbo outlet pipe, what have people done there?

VR4 and EVO throttle bodies are the same size (60mm)

Didnt the kit come with a turbo outlet pipe?

Probably would have been better/easier if you just got it from Meek (dont they come with hoses and clamps already?)

BTW- whats up with your strut tower brace!!!??

Yes in retrospect I should have gone with the meek kit, I got mine from Plazmaman which as far as I know is the place that makes the kits for meek. The kit came with clamps and hoses but either the kit is a bit of a mismatch of parts or something is terribly wrong. I will take a pic of the 'spare' pipe.

What do you mean whats up with it?

You need some nice bits of silicon to fix that up.
a nice big 90 degree piece of the t/b
and a couple of larger reducers off the i/c
see below, looks like the plamaman kit too.
bit surprising, i thought the kit would be more "complete"
out of curiosity what diameter is it?
get that pic of the spare pipe up.
i also believe meek sell a turbo outlet pipe on its own too so thats probably your best bet.

Nah they arent welded, the C shaped bits are just painted the same colour as the strut towers.

Here is the extra bit, it looks like it would bolt up to the throttle body really nicely if I cut the current extension off the throttle body.

I think it is a VR4 throttle body elbow:

EDIT: There is also an extra pipe that was linked up to the post intercooler pipes(just near the BOV attachment) it seems to go to the fuel pressure regulator, there is no spot to attach this on the new pipes, should I just T it to the BOV line?

Yeah that's a throttle body elbow, but shouldn't it be the same for VR4 and EVO? Your other option could be to cut the elbow piece off the flange and have it welded to the 'cooler pipe, then use your straight silicone piece to match it to the throttle body. OR - chop and use the factory joiner.

In regards to the turbo outlet - get one of the MEEK outlets which flares out to a 2" diameter to match the 2" end on the 'cooler pipe. That way you can just use a straight 2" piece of hose instead of a reducer (less $$).

I'm also thinking you may have to remove the tag on the intercooler which has the fixing point for the factory pipe so that the new and larger pipe will sit flush. I had to remove mine to allow the MEEK pipe to sit properly.

Yes I will hunt down a turbo outlet pipe, the strange thing is the pipe that joins to the stock pipe is tapered to allow use of a straight 40 odd mm joiner.

Looks like this "kit" isnt as bolt on as you thought, more of a pain in the arse with heaps of parts not right/there so you are ending up having to spend more money to get it all to work.... Were you told it is a straight bolt on kit? If you were I would be making a phone call to ask them to sort somthing out.

Meh... I am not upset about it, its a good learning experience.

The story goes as follows, I ordered the kit through Springy motors who got it from Plazmaman. $600 bucks with all the silicone and clamps, thought I was getting an alright deal, but alas it was not!

EDIT: This is a piccy of the TB.

You've got PM Andrew.

Springy had issues with the kit that was delivered to kaotik also..
Just let springy know, they will get the right parts from plazmaman..

Plazmaman had supplied some incorrect silicone hoses which were not the right size..

Keep note, plazmaman will provide you with extra hoses / elbows just in case! so dont think that you need to use all the parts, that may cause some confusion also.

Yeah I assumed that there was going to be some spare parts with the kit(something I admire). I just wasnt that sure if I had stuffed up the install or not. The only bit that I think I am missing is the rubber elbow from the trottle body to the final pipe.

There is also an extra pipe that was linked up to the post inter cooler pipes(just near the BOV attachment) it seems to go to the fuel pressure regulator, there is no spot to attach this on the new pipes, should I just T it to the BOV line?

Doesn't that hook upto the boost control module? Your intercooler pipe shouldn't go to the fuel pressure reg...

Ah thats probably it... it was near the fuel line so I just assumed. Is there any reason it uses such a large diameter pipe?
