They can't come close to offering the same "bang for buck" performance :)

stock vs stock - I'd agree with you however, if you had $15 - $20K to spend on a new car and looked through some of their forums, i'm sure you will be able to pick up a car with a fair bit of mods, newer than 89/90 model and with similar if not better performance.

Persoanally, being a VR4 owner, There is no way i would spend $15K on a 17/18 year old car. They are great cars for what they are and the only reason I bought mine was as you said "bang for buck" but then again mine only cost me a fraction of $15K.. :D :D

You might of spent a fraction on a VR4, but it didnt come with a fresh paint job, rebuilt engine and a bunch of other mods?

Is yours a shitty A-spec? (no offence to A-spec drivers out there)

I rekon this car is worth every penny!

Sure, you could pick up a car that was newer, and faster, but is it all about performance?

Looks have something to do with it, and excuse me if i'm wrong- but thats one of the hottest VR4's in Australia.

So what if its old- it looks brand new!!!

Clutz, You have made some valid points. Could you plz clarify what a "shitty A-Spec" is exactly?

Let's just say that I got a very good "Value for performance" buy with my car. Sure, it has/had it's fair share of "age" related issues but let's face it, mine's a 91 model which makes it 16 years old! You can rebuild this and rebuild that and reco this and replace that but eventually the car will show its age no matter how much you throw at it.
Personally, Instead of throwing big money into what will still be an old car, i would rather hold on to the cash and put it towards something that already has the goodies on it from the factory with some nicer "modern" looks and features - such as an EVO6 / 7. I'm not saying HePil's car is bad or too expensive, It looks like one of the nicest VR4's around and yes i'm sure it is pretty fast however, for me I cannot see value in that car to pay $14k and if you take a look at a lot of other classifieds, you will see that a lot of other people are struggling to get rid of their vr4's as well.
Like they say, you can't turn back the clock.

I honestly can't find, for 15k - a newer, better car than Hepil's.

Find me an E5/6/7/8/9/X for 15 and I'm there..

You know what a shitty A-spec is! 200,000+ kms, bad paint, worn suspension/bushes, sluggish and chews petrol. Ugly!

Sure, you might not be able to see the reason behind people spending copious amounts of $$$$ on a car thats 16 years old, or older- but when someones selling one thats had all of the hard work done to it- you cant say its not 'bang for buck' or 'just another VR4'!!!

Clutz, Let me just say that youv'e totally misunderstood my original message. My intention was NOT to offend anyone or their car, in fact I was purely making a statement regarding the MARKET for these VR4's. This is bad news for all of us! Do your research, you'll see what I mean.

Is HePil's car worth $14K. Yes to the right buyer. My point is that 5 years ago, the number of potential buyers for this car would have been a lot higher than today. I sincerely hope he finds the right buyer for it and theyr'e both happy with the deal. That's all I'm saying and it is my opinion.

I don't have an interest in playing keyboard battleships so plz let's keep it constructive.

I love my VR4 for what it is and if it's a "shitty A-Spec" then that's your opinion and your entitled to it. I can still have just as much fun in my "shitty" VR4 than in a 12 second $20K+ VR4. For me there's no point building a crazy engine for everyday use because the rest of the car is still 16 years old.. This is a fact that can't be argued, no matter how much $ you throw at it!

For "Find me an E5/6/7/8/9/X for 15 and I'm there.." Let's be a little realistic ha? If you have your heart set on an evo, then unfortunately you will have to dig a little deeper into your pockets.
If it doesn't have to be an evo, broaden your horizons a little and you'll be surprised what you'll find out there! Or you could buy HePil's VR4.

Anyway guys, good luck to HePil and anyone else looking to sell their VR4. If this discussion raises more awareness for the VR4, then at least we can all agree on one positive to come out of this..

Relax guys....at the end there only VR4's LoL

Pleas direct all abuse via PM hahaha

Oh, im sorry, I didnt know you were making a market statement in someones for sale thread

I also didnt know that you drove an A-spec, just assumed!

I know exactly what you are saying though, you dont have to explain! The reason why the prices have come down is the fact that you can import yourself a legnum/galant VR4 from Japan for the same price as what he is asking!

Also the fact you can import later model EVO's into the country is driving prices down like crazy!

i say shitty jap specs :p well the older ones neway, u are stressing about bushes.... try rusty old jap specs haha... clutz u are lucky to have a 90mod one. my jpa spec AMG was also great but the majority of jap specs, and i have seen alot.. have been rusty and a pain on the ass to work on with rusty bolts (should have seen the signs when it arived from japan with snow tyres on it haha... but i gladly would have pored alot of money into my AMG just because of what it was and it was diferent.. not exspecting to get it back..makes me want it back now seeing his AMG. too bad i tried to mate the AMG with a brick wall and had verry ugly children..

14k for a vr4... especialy with everything practicly new on it..............have a think about how much some shitty old rebult kingswoods cost..

I personally did my VR4 as it is every car i have ever wanted in one. I have done up over 40 cars over the years and had many featured in magazines. The VR4 outdoes them all. I love it. Since its the last car i will most likely ever do up ( So the missus thinks ) i have gone crazy and spent the better part of 80k so far on mine thanks to the sale of my previous ride ( tubbed RX3 ). Its a mad car that nobody expects to be fast.

80k?
wow...
lots of cash spent indeed!

Yes it is. I go a bit too far when i do them. Its better to do a car 100% then cut corners to save money. The interior alone has cost nearly 20k. Those that have seen it say its unbelieveable. I will get some pics as soon as the car gets back from having the motor installed or it will be in a upcoming Fast Fours magazine.

IF you ever end up selling that car you've put 80k into, I reckon the buyer is going to be one very happy person !
