The white RSR II...tried to message him but got nil response.
I have finally got in touch with the guy...its actually his mate that replies due to personal issues...they both have no idea.
I might post screenshots of the convo..its amusing to say the least...BUT....I have finally got him to realise that he is delusional and there is no such thing as an early RS2 and he has finally edited the ad to reflect this!!

So.....thats about it in a nutshell.
Not sure what to make of the VIN swap part but at least he has come to his senses on the RS2 misinformation part.
Even though it took me having to point it out from the guide he sent me!! Either way its still a nice car but nowhere near as special as he thought it was...and no good for anyone in NSW which is a shame

Interesting discussion. The guy can't be that keen to sell the car as its been for sale for 2-3 years now. I enquired about it when I bought my yellow plate 3 about 18 months ago.

Yes, have have heard back from him just recently too. I haven't responded.. as I've already bought. Interesting car tho...sounds more like a Martin Griggs rebirth to me.

I can confirm that I was contacted about the car last week, and through my dealings with the Dean/Dave combo, I was advised that Martin Grigg did the compliance on the car. A blue Lancer coupe was found at a wrecker, and the VIN plate was purchased for that car. The Evo 2 RS was separated in Japan (the driveline was pulled off the chassis), and the car was sent to Australia in two separate shipments per the laws at the time. Once both shipments arrived in Australia, Martin Grigg bolted it all back together. Perhaps the owner had the wool pulled over his eyes and was unaware that the driveline was actually from a different (non RS) car, hence the air-con inclusion. Whatever the case, it's definitely a re-birth and certainly not eligible for rego in NSW.

This is from the Dean/Dave duo:

Also from the Dean/Dave duo. When I asked about why the document was dated in 2009, I was told that it was because the engineer (forget his name, Gareth maybe?) used for the compliancing in 2001-ish was later found to be fraudulent (working with stolen cars), Vic Roads asked for all of the cars he worked on to be re-processed in 2009 at the cost of the Government. As I live in NSW, I have no idea if any of that is BS...
