EG-EK Civic half size radiator into CC GSR/EVO

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Intercooler to radiator clearance at a guess is 100mm plus. And half the radiator is unobstructed by cooler, hence why I'm thinkin of trying to direct airflow around the cooler via a big intake the size of the core, square on pass side and tapered in from driver side around cooler. If that makes sense

Tbh I'd go for a full size (length) rad that fits under the support panel and run a remote filler. To encourage air through the rad you want the engine bay to be a low presure zone.

Most of the air that goes through the rad is sucked into the low presure area under the car. Raising the rear of the bonnet open up the engine bay to the high presure area at the base of the windscreen ever heard of reverse cowl induction on old v8s same thing. What you want are vents like those found on evo's with a raise front edge the create a low presure zone behind and encourage hot air to exit trough. Look at airodynamic flow diagrams and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Also the area behind our engines is a bit of a dead zone so there is not realy any benefits to the radiator

Well that was my originak plan. The mr2 radiator sits under radiator support, but its cross flow, so u have to mod ur water pump pipe to do a like 300 degree u-turn. Then on top of thaat

Thought id throw this in to an existing thread even though it doesn't entirely fit here.
Very different approach and solution. The Driver behind this setup (Alex from DentSport) was to reduce intercooler piping length; but you could use a similar setup to save some room for a turbo.

1 cat, 2 ways (not Brian's cat again!!!).

There's so much room for activities! Haha. I ended up damming the front of the radiator to encourage air to flow thru radiator as opposed to across it. I am though yet to drive it more than atound the blocj a couple of times yet, so whether it's effective enough is yet to be seen. I'm almost tempted yo make a nrw exhaust manifold that points forward.
