Thanks to all for your words of wisdom. Exhaust is 3" straight through with 4" tip. No cat converter and no muffler so also have emissons to worry about.

Prob swap out exhaust for the test and then swap back afterwards.

The best idea is the 1mm steel,Get a peice of 1 or 2mm thick steel,cut it like a gasket,drill a few holes 6mm holes like 5 or 6 in it,it will work a treat,any more holes and any bigger and it wont cut the noise enough,ive seen one with 2 holes and it still made a bit of noise,chokd the car up and made it shit to drive,was on an RB20 and it brought it down from 100 Db to 76Db

Wasn't the EPA was a cop. My mates girlfriend was driving his car home from the gym and she got pulled over. The cop was a real prick, not even part of the TMU and gave her a real hard time. He gave her a canary for no rear tail light on spoiler, FMIC fitted, 2 pod filters (R32 GTR) & height. When my mate found out he went ballistic!! Tried to ring the cop but he wouldn't return his calls.

The car is completely stock with the only mod being exhaust. First time he took the car to VicRoads they said they could not provide roadworthy unless the FMIC was removed! Second time around he got someone who knew about cars and was cleared. The only thing he needed to do was fit a light in the rear window.

Next day he got the letter from the EPA. He gave them a call and it was the same cop who booked him in.

So if you live around Epping in VIC the watch out - this guy is a real prick !

yeah you are able to have a fmic but not pod(s) aswell its one or the other i thi nk the law state you may only have 1 modified intake or some shit

i got a pretty loud exhaust too .. going up the levels at crown i'm sure to set off at least 5 or 6 cars

i thought the sound was all due to the muffler?.. i'm runnin a holden ss muffler 8) keep the stock look from the rear

you can't see it at all i think :? but its just a lil twin peashoot muffler
