I just got offered some ralliart coilovers that where on a V.
I guess on the top you can just change the camber tops but what about the bottom?
Would it be worth the hassle trying to get them to fit?

thanks guys!

nope.
I highly doubt that the bottoms will bolt up either.
Unless you do some custom work.
I wouldnt bother to be honest.
How much would u pick them up for?

As you mentioned, the front coilovers just need camber tops to suit cc (2 bolt), or you can drill 4 bolts to suit the CE 3-bolts setup (afew of people have gone this way).

The rears are abit tricky, because the lower cntrl arm mounting tubes that are in a CC are replaced by a mounting C-bracket.
I've seen evo4+ rear suspension retrofitted into a CC, but it means getting your lower control arms modified.

I estimate about $200 for the pair to be modified to suit.

IUd really like to see pics of this if anyone has done it.
I wonder where youd stand legally sfter wards?

Ive been looking for coilovers for my CC, and i must say its easier to get later model stuff...so this option would nearly be viable...and modding the mounts woulnt be hard at all.

I'll try to take some pics next time I see them.

As for legality, you will have to get the rear lower control arms modified by an engineer, thus it being legal.

The control arm modification is the hardest part of fitting later evo suspension.

also the width of the front leg where it bolts to the knuckle is different too.cost outweighs advantage imo

We have not talked price but there is a chance that I wouldn't have to pay for them...
but by the sounds of things the rears can be done with a bit of modding but the front bottoms will be the pain.
I might be heading to techsport on Friday so ill sus it out with them as well.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Call Steve at Advanced Jap. He is getting a few sets for cc lancers in the next container and probably has a few sets in stock. Great bloke to deal with with many happy customers here on T4G!

I got my set of HKS hypermax 2's off steve. He searched for them in japan for me and brought them over and all for a great price.

He also hooked Peakin up with coilvers about a month ago.

You don't modify the control arm. You get coilovers with separate height and preload adjustment, then you can unscrew the lower mounting bracket.
Next cut the mount off your stock rear shock and have it welded into the fork on the lower mount of the coilover.

easy.

At the front the 5 lower mount is slightly too narrow (it will fit if you tap it with a hammer) so some light relief of the portion attached to the hub with a file and it'll fit perfectly.

for the front though you would have to file out a couple of mm which would weaken the bottom of the strut toomuch. no too safe imo. especially in an impact

Good luck, nothing is coming in to the country with the dollar the way it is, i spoke to him yesterday..Every one is sitting tight...wait, wait, wait unfortunately..

Yes, but sometimes it aint easy to find lower leg adjustable coilovers...

why doesnt someone buy the hks coilovers that steve has on ebay?

hks for 1-3?

I beleive those coilovers are in located in redcliffe, Qld....
A tuning shop is selling them...
Then again, there may be 2 sets..

I have my reasons for not buying them..A mate had them , they blew out, couldnt find anyone to rebuild them, then , to make it worse, couldnt even get them apart easy due to the inverted design.

If you don't have to pay for them? grab them.. on sell them ;) to finance a pair that are made for your model.......

forget all these other idea's and fantasies about modding them to suit, its a BIG WASTE OF TIME & MONEY then again you might have enough of this to burn/waste

I didn't have to remove anything like that much to get mine to fit.
They fitted with no modification, but it was really tight (took abit of persuasion to get them in there), so I literally ran the file over each side once and now they are snug and perfect.

As for why bother modifying stuff to suit, personally I ENJOY making stuff, there's a certain satisfaction from doing things yourself, rather than being just another "ebay tuner".
As for the cost, make friends with someone who can weld an it will only ever cost you Beer.

I wouldn't bother with coilovers that are only pre-load adjustable, but that's a whole other can of worms.

you have a VR4 though squid.
They are different to the Evo and GSR setup.
I agree. Theres quite a bit out there for CC's, wouldnt be worth the hassle to mess around with any others, when its going to cost the same amount anyway!

I do, but I've used evo2 suspension in it, and I know several people who've fitted evo5 hubs to their early evo's (using the same suspension they had beforehand) and I don't recall any mount width issues....
