Evolution IX Wagon GT problem. lets see how good you guys are!!

Here's the deal guys! ...... I'm from trinidad and tobago..... (little island in the caribbean) .....
i imported, a masterpiece.... a Ralliart Evolution IX Wagon (Automatic)
i'm having a serious problem that no -one here can seem to solve.
as you all may know this wagon shares almost everything from the evolution IX sedan ASIDE from the Mivec capability (the manual wagon, the MR, comes with mivec, Auto doesnt)
anyway, ... . .problem is......
seems as tho the car is dumping too much fuel. BTW the car is completely stock, however, the speed cut has been removed. the car smokes black a whole lot on idle speed, and when i press out, an it gears down theres also alot of smoke... like alot, its like a diesel evo9 ....
i've tried, airflow sensor, checked all vacuum lines, checked for boost leaks, removed the catalyst converter or whatever they call it. also, if i get of gas quickly, the rpm would drop, sometimes the car would even stall.....
i've tried it all, even the idle control something.. there's no check light on either. it hurts me deeply to know i have one of 2500 evo9 wagons in the world and it doesnt work well.
all help would be greatly appreciated. ASAP! thanks ppl ..

Removing that cat converter would not be helping with the problem.

What heat range plugs do you have? Change your plugs, they are most likely fouled and wont be helping thar cause. Look into leads and even temp sensors.

changed plugs, worked well for a bit, then fouled back up.. . same problem. all temp sensors in order.

Checked to see if it's running a plug n play computer?

if its almost stalling on run down it will be a air flow issue.

check for boost leaks again (pressure test, should hold 20+ psi) check you BOV, make sure its a stock one and not VTA.

sounds like Idle Speed Control , which is a common fail in late model Evos , which the seal also can break and create the air leak

Put a brand new O2 sensor in it so you at least know its brand new. Also check that the O2 is getting earth and a voltage signal from the ECU when accessories are turned on.

Also, thinking outside the square, I'd get the ECU checked if possible. Due to its notoriety in the EVO community, there is a good chance that the Evo wagons get a fair bit of abuse by owners - lets face it, 99% of members here would try to take the wagon to its limits just for fun to compare it to an Evo sedan lol :lol: Therefore it could have possibly had a reprogrammed ECU in it for some modifications its had before you owned it. When exporting from Japan to Trinidad, they probably put OEM parts back on it to pass import and registration laws. Therefore the ECU could still be mapped for bigger injectors/turbo than what is currently fitted to the car.
