Hi Guys,

I'm pretty new on the forum and have a question.
I bought a 1994 Lancer GSR of a mate and just prepare it to get it on the road.
Pretty sure its not normal, never came across a car what does that.
As soon i turn the ignition on the fan's , a/c and radiator, are running.
The A/C dosent work cause of missing compressor (BTW if someone got one for sale please let me know).
What could be the cause?

thanks
Dan

check the ac button on the dash is it orange or green? if so turn off the damn ac. otherwise some one has hardwired the fans simple enough to fix if you have some electrical knowledge

Look in the engine bay on the drivers side near the radiator, you will see a white plug that plugs into the radiator

I've seen this happen a few times when the original GSR radiator stuffs up and they throw a standard radiator on or an alloy radiator on which doesn't have the sensor, so to make the fans work they bridge the wires on the white plug (always on once ignition is on)

If the plug is plugged in the radiator, you may have a stuffed sensor, in that case turn your ignition on so the fan works, then unplug the lil plug on the radiator, if the fans turn off then your sensor is buggered

It's a stock JAP spec GSR
the switch is plugged in and I can't see any additional or joined wire atm. I have to wait untill the hoist is free.
but when i turn the interior fan (A/C) off then both fans turn off too.
I guess the thermoswitch is bugged, will get a new one.

pull the plug out of the switch in the rad and earth out the green wire. in the plug and see if the fans come on theres a fuse in the engine bay that may be blown

to get around this as ive found as I just put a koyo alloy radiator in , the water return hose on a 4g93t just below the head there should be an Alan key plug in the housing fitting , this matches the thread of the fan control switch, so just relocate the switch and extent the wires. saves you hard wiring up the fan to run at all times

in the above photo you can see what i did when i installed my gsr motor and had no thermo fan switch in my radiator. in the top of the outlet housing there is a threaded bung like you are describing but for my motor and loom this bung is used as part of the ac circuit (it's a over temperature cut off disables the ac system when the engine is too hot the sender for this is a normally on switch) what i did was to put a brass t on it and run the wiring as per normal. directly under this threaded outlet is the turbo water return.
