Hi Matress, $190US equates to $451AU delivered to your door. I worked it out as:

$190US + $75US Shipping (as stated on EBay) = $365AU
No 10% Duty payable if the value is under $1000AU
Therefore VoTI = $365AU
Add 10% GST on top of it all = $401AU
Customs Admin fees = $50AU ($48.95)

Total = approx $451AU delivered to your door (depending on exchange rate on the day)

It's always best to buy a couple of items or more if you can keep the value under $1000AU to bypass the additional 10% duty. You must show a receipt of your purchase as well, an EBay print screen is good enough for Australian Customs. Admin fees are only $1.00 for each additional item after your first so its best to bring in more than one item at a time to save you $$ in the long run

Most places will accept Credit Card or PayPal transactions. Use PAYPAL at all times and NEVER give your Credit Card details to anyone! With all purchases overseas there's always an element of risk so stick with the big names (registered companies) and/or the big sellers with excellent feedback  Customs will contact you within a few days after confirmation from the company that they have sent the goods, then it's paperwork time, and believe me, it is very daunting and confusing for first timers!

Australian suppliers would purchase bulk goods through Agents for a safer transaction and they have every right to charge more for the product as they need to make their profit and recover all their costs associated with insurance, freight, customs fees, duty, agents etc. If the price in Australia is way too expensive, then by all means you got the right as a consumer to save some $$$ but there's a few things you got to consider when buying from overseas - how much risk and stuffing around is worth $100? how quick do you need it? what if the product is faulty and do I have to return it to America?

I know that if something is worth $450AU to bring in from America, or its $550 to buy from an Aussie supplier, I'm going Aussie as its not worth $100 of my time going through the ********, headache, wait and risk associated with purchasing overseas for a measly $100 lol :D

Yes barry, your right, but have a look at that links feedback, 1900 or something and its 100%positive. EVO-00X, hwo did you come up with all those extra GST charges etc? I've bought ALOT of stuff off ebay, and have only ever been asked to pay any extra once, and then Auspost ****** it up and forgot to charge me when I picked it up...........

I bought one of these flywheels recently, cost me around $350 all up

dre

There's no extra GST charges listed above, you have to pay GST no matter what. There's just no added 10% duty if value is under $1000. If you read my thread from VR4 forums on Fri 26 August (you're on it so you must have read it haha) there's a post of mine half way down the page that explains all the costs/ charges and what I had to do and how much it ended up in the end http://www.clubvr4.org/public/viewtopic.php?t=5789&highlight= . If you bought heaps of stuff from overseas without incurrng any additional charges, then they must have treated it as everyday mail lol  Where can I get a billet flywheel delivered to my door for no extra customs costs and only a total of $350?

EVO00X, I imported nearly 4000 dollars of fully declared car parts from the USA, customs didn't charge me a damned cent apart from GST because car parts (if they are listed as such) or replacement parts are covered under the free trade agreement and therefore exempt of duty.

Hi Entaran... Customs advised me that the 'free trade' does not mean "free" from taxes etc.. it means discounts on duty charges and Australia wide its 10% on all car parts for items valued over $1000 - if you have a shipment worth over $1000AU you pay taxes.

I dunno how you boys are getting stuff into the country without paying duty but I would like to know who your supplier is and who/how they sent it so I dont have to pay the extra $$ . I'd like one of these Fidanza flywheels as well without paying double the price just to get it here hahaha... Can you give some examples of who you bought through and how/what company they sent it with so I can have something to go off?

The parts were bought off various companies and shipped to a very very close friend of mine who lives in las vegas, she then called DHL who packed them all into very large boxes and sent the lot over here via DHL. It wasn't cheap to ship it all, but customs didn't charge duties on it as they told me specifically over the phone that it was covered by free trade, ie: 10% gst nothing else to pay.

well...
the flywheel turned up on my doorstep on tuesday morning, so in all it took about 5 days (over new years) from the US which is pretty impressive i reckon.
in total it cost me AU$372.00 including US$75 shipping. nothing had to be paid upon arrival. :D

Damn.. I'm getting one too!! I am not sure if you VIC boys have different import rules than us NSW boys, but I'm gonna get the next one that comes up hahaha  and I'll let you know how much I have to pay :)
