Big 16g versus"Evo3 Big 16g" .25mm less on the inducer on the Comp wheel. B)
I don't believe this i the case, a small 16g is smaller at the inducer and exducer but an Evo 1-2 big 16G is not smaller than an E3 big 16G.
I have an evo 1 turbo in my garage (as referenced by the serial number on compressor cover) I measure it as ~48mm (need another set of verniers) at the inducer , and gtpumps lists the evo 3 compressor wheel as being 48.3mm inducer, (68mm exducer, same as big16g, 18g and 20g).
Even if someone argues it could be an evo 2 turbo ect or the reference used for the serial number is wrong, its not an evo 3 serial number, there for not an E3 16g. While the small 16g defiantly came on the later RS vr4's i have read some threads where is seems it 'may' have come on some evo 1's as a option, regardless this one in my hand is a "big 16g".
If you believe the forum hype the Evo 3 big 16g is meant to flow more. The wheels are the same size, same number or blades, but apparently the aero is better. These are the airflow figures at 1 bar that are always quoted. I haven't yet read of a back to back test of an evo 1-2 big 16g verses a evo 3 big16g.

Now here s bit of (a possibly bullshit) idea i have..... Even though the Americans can really max out and do amazing things with the E3 16g16g.....
The Americans dont have easy access to evo 1-3 cars. And most the E3 big 16g's they play with on the 1g and 2g dsm's were brought new at some point not ripped of an original evo.
Is it possible that they just compare the E3 big 16g to the small 16g, and have do not have enough evo 1-2 big 16Gs to play with', so its come about that the E3 turbo is meant to be better because its evo 3 and the evo 3 car made more power in stock form? Everyone seems to have 14b's, some small 16gs around and then evo 3 16gs.
Its just an idea as i haven't seen a proper back to back test. If any one has seen one post it up!
