What outlets does everybody get their fuel from?

I know we all use 98 but, from Shell, Mobil, BP Caltex?

I heard Caltex have a higher amount of ethanol in the fuels, is this true?

Just curious to know, i use Shell or Mobil 98's.

i remember I dynoed my car at Croydon and filled up first with 98 octance bp or caltex (cant remember), and they were having problems with the tune and were blaming the fuel... i cant comment as it may have just been a bad batch??

they stopped the tune and recommended i fuel up at shell with 98.. which i did.. and they didnt have any complaints with the next tune, and apparently ended up making little bit more power because of the trouble-free tune... (note that they obviously didnt charge for two tunes, price remained as agreed of course) ive been using shell all the time since

barry posted a thread awhile back in which all the common fuels were tested. correct me if im wrong but caltex vortex 98 came out on top ?

mayeb use the search feature and try dig it up

Yep..Synergy is the bomb..i got way more mileage from it..way less knock and the car made smoother power and revved happyier..

BP Ultimate is good..a close second..didnt seemed to get as good economy..but still fairly good.

IMO Vortex is Trash..The car once detonated audible on Vortex and another few times it was pulling timing and running like utter shit.
Those were seperate occasions from different suppliers months apart.
Knock was unnacceptable.

Shell was OK..didnt seem to get the economy though

Synergy by far.

yup mobil here... ive poured caltex once in a magna, and it sucked arse... but then again thats a magna...

mobil is the way to go, plus my dad has a less chance of putting in the wrong petrol.. purple pump, purple car

BP ultimate

I do like to change around every now and then, but BP is so smooth compared to shell v power.

Ive never tried Mobil ever
I've tried Caltex Vortex 98, was ok.

pft 98 your all wasting your money do you really need it? (unless you have aftermarket management) 95 octane fuel works plenty good enough for me, any brand they are all petrol, I have found Shell to be the worst tho, only ever had problems/bad batches from there. but don't use ethanol fuel as it fouls spark plugs.

I use BP almost exclusively.

Used vortex 98 one night during that BP shortage, and the car pinged it's head off .. must've been a bad batch or something, but I won't be trying it again.

yup BP ultimate or Mobile 8000, i dont care what EFI car you have they always run smother and get more out of a tank.....

A few points of octane can be all the difference when people have modified their car.

It will burn more effectivelly too.

Theres actually 144 grades of petrol for australia....12 months by 12 zones..content is reviewed monthly by distillers and australia, from darwin to melbourne is broken up into 12 zones..each of which receives a target fuel with slightly different chemical structure....so ur petty at Darwin aint exactly whats in melbourne..there are differences..im not sure if all companies zone..i think it was Shell that was doing it.

I use Shell V-Power and haven't had any problems yet. Was at one stage running the Extreme 100 which was good when they actually had it in stock!
But I'm game to try other brands though.

I used to use BP, but have since moved to Shell, it consistently gives me better mileage and I haven't noticed any performance hit. Been tracking my fuel usage ever since I bought my Evo.
