hey guys......need a hand... may have already solved this somewere on this site but any way.....
this problem is starting to piss me off now and i have looked over almost every thing and i cant seem to pin point the problem. i have a Galant GSR with a 4G63 worked N/A but still stock ecu and runs fine, engine was rebuilt about a year ago by old owner and is fairly much A1 besides the normal ticking noise from the 1st gen engines. also all egr accessories have been shut off and a Cyclone Intake used......

now the problem, once in a blue moon while at long idle (hot and cold days) my engine seems to fluctuat in RPM then either come back to normal or just die, but starts like normal straight after....... checked over almost every thing, but i havent checked over the relays that run the engine accesories which are incabin on top of the fuse box and also the crank angle sensor which i dont think is that cause the engine is perfect at 7K RPM....

wanting to check:
fuel pump relay
fuel filter
idle speed controll servo
ECU board for cracks

any other ideas would be reallly helpfull guys

thanks, Regards
Jerome

you may find that it could be the AFM, i was told it is a common problem on GSR's by Entaren when i bought mine form him and my one proved it, im about to put in my 3rd AFM

hurm........ i'm stil on my stock one and i've looked it over and it seems fine....... only happens in a blue moon and hasn't happened this past month or so..... don't make any sense at all.....

You'll find the problem is underbonnet heat causing the wires to heat up and the resistance in the wires getting a little bit too much compared to the ohm ratings of the circuits.

When this happens, the circuitry tends to start closing switches left right and centre. Case in point... click your cruise control on on a 2 hour cruise and it'll flick itself off after about 1.5 hours because it gets too hot and the electronic control thinks you hit the trip switch.

Get some bonnet vents or jack the arse end of your bonnet up a half inch for airflow with rubbers. Or both.

thought of all that already, i have large E6 bonnet vents and have re done some of the wiring to clean up the engine bay........ still happening........ its once in a blue moon literaly......

i have used the cruise for longer then 2 hours and no probs with it....

but thankz pplz for the input...

hey mate, are you meaning the idle 1000rpm - 1500rpm issue?

Mine used to do this years ago, then the issue went away?
A dude with a VR4 I met a meeting in Brisbane told me it was the ECU. Check the caps?

Mitsubishi told me at the time it was either the ECU or the ISC motor..

Hope this helps.

PS: Mine will be on the road this week :D

EDIT: I'm tired and didn't read your post properly, you's is the opposite? it's dieing / stalling.. sorry! doubt it's the ECU then..

ahaha its all good GSRace, i had that rpm idle issue already solved that ages ago.... also the idle issue with the fluctuating idle between 1000 and 1500 rpm

thanks any ways bro

still no idea it just does it when it likes.... hasnt done it for a month and a half........ not really fussed now as my Supercharged 4G63 is finaly in production... yay.....
