Some bad places:
1. XTC turbo and performance in Coburg. Got ripped hardcore by this company. I don't know if they've shut shop or not, but the work they do is pretty poor. Observed them putting in an RB26 with a huge arse turbo into some poor bloke's GTR once, and after close to an hour they still couldn't gt it in[mauled the firewall as well] There's also a story on a Cappucino they turbocharged; it blew up just after leaving[not confirmed]
2. Bad trader and all-round ripoff artist: Anthony B*****. Now lives in QLD, but chances are he'll be back in VIC in a year or two. He owes me a MOTEC, and took his former employer to the order of 5 digits. Owes another garage a couple of grand.
3. Mechanic: Benny "K******" P****l, runs his own place now. The bloke who built my engine the first time round and didn't tolerance up the valves to the pistons. Cost me a rebuild and a new turbo. He's brilliant when it comes to general service and mantainence though, and is good especially with mantaining SR's.
Some good places:
1. ATP Turbo on the Princess. Kyp's knows his shit, and turns things around right quick. Good prices too.
2. Chasers Motorworks in West Melbourne. Plenty of Evo's, the slowest 4WD out of there's punching out 210kW@all 4, which is a blue Evo6 TME. Good and quick mechanics, an up-front boss and good prices. Get ready for a few calls though, they'll find pretty much everything that's wrong with your car and tell you about it. Excellent fabrication services, and a tuner who works on actual racr cars[Paul Flourentzo cut his teeth on ARC cars, land speed record vehicles and the odd powerboat before coming into the automotive aftermarket] Two of his current clients are Darcy Russel and a paceholder in the Race to the Sky challenge in NZ.
3: Engine builders: James Race Engines in North Melbourne. Did the machine work to my engine as well as the 500kW RB26-powered GTST "UNIQGT." Aluminium TIG facilities, and has a new multi-axis CNC rig. Engine hasn't missed a beat since then. You can get full reports as well as damage reports, Hedley and Scott know precisely what they're doing and like Paul, they cut their teeth on race cars, not street cars.
