**GROUP BUY** ECM link v3 lite

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

for those of you who are in this group buy and want to get onto tuning asap (and anyone else who may be interested), we can also get a 15% discount on 4+ of these units:
Innovate LC-1 kit (no gauge)
this will work out to be under $200 each delivered. if i can get enough interest, i'll check to make sure they're compatible with the ecmlink and get the ball rolling.

I have one. Dont need it thanks.
Look on ebay the prices for delivery ect vary so have a good look around. I found some were much cheaper.

Hey guys,

I'm waiting on one more payment, then the order will be placed, i'll check that we have all the details that we need, and i'll PM you all one more time, before we recieve the ECM links,

Cheers
Nick

Speaking of sockets, I remember people on the GVR4 website recommending ZIF sockets for this purpose, but is there really a need?
It's not like you'll be taking it out and putting it back in heaps. I understand it's good for chip burners, but is a ZIF socket going overboard for the ECU? And could it pose connections problems over the standard female DIL socket? i.e lever coming loose or something.

what do you need a socket for? unless its busted?

It's hard to bust them mate! Mostly people ruin their memory chips before they damage the socket.
I don't personally need a new socket for my ECU, but on unmodified ECU's you need to take the factory burnt ROM chip out (which is soldered to the PCB via PTH) and either solder the ECMlink/aftermarket chip into place or solder a socket into place and it allows solder free connection (like a plug and socket). Most people prefer the latter because you can chop and change chips without soldering (heat cycling increases the chance you'll damage the PCB).

Lol, boob dude. :p

EDIT: Haha, sorry man I just found to4garret's tag line funny.

Chipping your ECU isn't that big of a problem. I was actually gonna take some of mine to an electonics assembly company and do it there while I replaced caps. Was thinking of asking if anyone else wanted it done while I was there. I was only gona charge the cost for parts and shipping. I've just been picky cos I want Panasonic caps. So I have to find them first.
Otherwise Brett from Meek is handy with this stuff.

An old school tv repair place should be able to do it or an electronics place. Don't need somewhere that specializes in car ecus.
They desolder the chip and install a chip holder. A chip holder is a chip holder.
They juts need to be really really good at soldering.

yeh its a pretty straight forward mod. Mind you I'm not going to solder it like some of those horrific photos on ecmlink's website!

going to take mine into work.. one of the perks of working for an electrical engineering company
if any of you melbourne boys have trouble, let me know.
to avoid clutter, perhaps one of the mods may want to move this thread into an appropriate section for further ecmlink discussion?

nk are you an electrical engineer? Mad  that's what I'm studying. :)

Hey guys, I found out today (thanks to ozyvr4) that the LC-1 is compatible with ECMlink in that you can log it and use it for narrowband simulation. Good news! :)

I was gonna buy a new 02 sensor to. No need now. Awesome!

mechanical engineer.

does the ecmlink require the whole lc-1 kit or just the o2 sensor itself?

Tbh, I don't actually know what is included in the kit as I bought mine 2nd hand with a guage.
I would assume that using just the sensor would work fine. You should still be able to log without the lamba cable, and I don't think ECMlink will require that you calibrate first but I am just guessing. It's a good question.
Brisvr4 has all of this active on his car and should be able to answer your question if you shoot him a PM.
