GSR Defected!! : ( : (

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

The Blitz EBC fits perfectly into the ashtray under the Head unit.

Ground out the rear of the ashtray with a Dremel, allowing the EBC to sit flush in the tray, with the wiring going straight out the back of it.

The copper didn't even see it, but still somehow knew just by looking under the bonnet that I had boost control.

He would have seen the solenoid.
Remove it anyway, if Regency find it, then they will booke you for another inspection. Simple rule with Regency, try to get it looking as stock as possible the first time.

my boost controler is mounted under the panel under the ash tray.

all you need is a thin little flat device and lever it up, i only had to cut about 1cm by 5cm of the plastic and it sits just above the abs unit.

nice and hidden though the solinoid in the engine bay is still there, a cop who knows what to look for just looks for vacume lines into the firewall.

though with mine a solanoid doesnt stand out when they see everything else :w00t:

when regency looked at mine, they didnt even look under the dash or anything, i think the guy just wanted my car gone, too much engineering paper work LOL

My solenoid is located underneath the battery tray and the only way to see it is if its on a hoist if you stick your head under the car to spot it its in a prick of a spot on purpose.

One of the reason why I have always maintained a very stock and clean as a whistle engine bay (clutter-less) :)

Appears the springs that came out to make way for the coilovers aren't stock GSR ones, but are
in fact lowered.

Has anyone got a set of 4 stock GSR springs I could have, or buy?

Really need to get this defect lifted ASAP

Cheers

Cheers for the offer Mattrat.

Took the car to Jon today and got the springs that were in the car when when I bought it put back in.

Appears that they are stock GSR springs after all, as just doing this seems to have raised the car back up, hopefully over the min ride height (needed to come up at least 20mm, which we're pretty sure it has).

Jon also removed the TurboSmart BOV, and fitted the stock GSR BOV I bought, and removed the EBC.

Now to cross my fingers and take the car down to the local cop shop and (hopefully) get the canary removed!

Motherf*cker!! :fuuuuu::fuuuuu::fuuuuu::fuuuuu::fuuuuu::fuuuuu:

Was just about to take the GSR & the defect notice down to the local cop shop, when I looked over it as I was literally walking out the door to go.

I swear the cop said all I had to do was take the car to a police station, but to my horror, the prick's ticked the dreaded "Vehicle Inspection Station" instead of "Police Station"

CAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRNNT!!!!

Off to Regency for me....:eek::eek::eek::fuuuuu::fuuuuu::fuuuuu::(:(:(

Now I urgently need to source a stock set of GSR rims, preferably with half decent tyres that will get me through inspection.

If you can help, please let me know.

Usually, they allow you to go to the cop shop once the original defects have been fixed, you book it in at Regency, the cop looks it over and then gives written permission for you to drive the car until the Regency inspection date.
That's probably what he meant. Like I was saying to you the other night, I can't remember the last person that only got a cop shop one....truns out your not that lucky.

The way I look at Regency (apart from $$ sucking prats) is that it is a forced improvement on your car. Think of it as a way of improving your car, and hey, if/when it happens again it won't cost you as much....There is always a brightish side.

1 Brightish Upside is, with returning to stockish ride height your gsr will handle shed loads better than being dropped on its (*)

OK - Sourced some factory GSR Rims with tyres decent enough to get me through.

Worried about my aftermarket exhaust being over the 90db limit though, although Exhaust Technology who made & fitted it generally do a good job of keeping their systems close to legal.

Will be spewing if I have to take it of and put a shitty stock system back on. Bloody thing cost just over 1K, not including the dump pipe!!

Will they do me for an aftermarket Momo Steering wheel?

As long as it has a padded centre you should be alright but if they are being A(*)'s they could knock it back unless it was offered as a oem option.

Maybe see if you find any documentation from the manufacturer of the wheel regarding being made to ADR standards then you'll be ok........ 1 would think.

If it has a padded centre and they ask or knock it back just say well the steering wheel was replaced for safety reasons as it was starting to fall apart ;)

GL with it

There are limits on how much smaller the steering wheel can be BUT!!!if the car came with an airbag then it MUST have one fitted no iff's or but's

Im 99% sure if it's a genuine MOMO, it does satisfy ADR requirements, yet they still may ask you for documentation
Id still put the stocker back on just to play it safe.

mine got through with its momo steering wheel not long ago.

Guy didnt question it or ask for any papers.

It also depends if you have a genuine boss kit or not, (ie collapsable)

Whoever fitted the 18's on it did so by completely removing the plastic inner guard covers.

I'm probably going to get done for that as well, aren't I?
