serious question here..

what would happen if i/we blocked off the water inlet on the head. what does it do exactly (apart from letting water/coolant in)? I know it goes between there and the water out pipe on the head but haven't got a head free atm i can really look at to work it out and i was hoping someone on here would know

reason being, about to undergo abit of a different conversion and we dont have room to fit it.. nor the cas for that matter but we have solved that issue..

cheers

you can redirect the pipe and remote mount the thermostat.....but a quick look says no joy on completely blocking it off

Custom make something to fit there instead.
Water is used to cool the alloy head and it actually gets pumped around your engine cooling system by the water pump. By locking that off you effectively stop water flowing throughout the engine.
The engine will get very hot quickly and you might as well kiss the head goodbye from overheating and cracking/warping/head gasket failure.
Not only that but not running a good cooling system will also degrade the oil very quickly and it will burn and not perform properly.
This in turn adds extra friction, in turn extra heat (a lot of it) to your valvetrain and bottom end rotating assembly.
Having a turbo engine only exacerbates the problem.

Cheers guys that's what I thought, but my mate wanted me to ask... I have a solution, and it will work but require abit of drilling, cutting and welding..

But we can't make it fit, the way it is, there will be just enough room for the sensors on the back and that's it

use oval flat pipe....Ive done it with cars before that have had a fwd engine put into rwd and the outlet sits against the firewall.

We are dropping the 93t into a 77 lb lancer.

I don't think there is jack, but my mate has come up with some idea with the cas, I don't know too much about it. I was trying to get him to use a crank and cam sensor, like the rvr's. but he reckons he's got it nutted out and it will work. We shall see haha

Yeah with the 4G63 those engines sit right back onto the firewall in the LA-LB-LC Lancers and there is no room for a CAS.
Guys use the RVR sensor on the timing cover instead.

The 63 is easier to bolt into the L series, cos the cas doesn't stuck out as much as the 93's and less mucking around with the water in.. Unlike the 93's lol

Only old lancer I've had is the yellow one that we were always going to be putting a 93t into.. But it isn't my car it's my mates

Edit.. We did have a orange one that was just a shell.. To "test" fit everything. But ended up turf'n it. It was taking up room
