Help Support 4GTuner:

Yeah complaints won't get you anywhere. If anything a nice dirty target on you and your car. Either find a "friendly" mechanic to help clear said defects. Wink Wink. Or R and R whatever is needed to clear it. Generally as I said if you get the vehicle inspected and can prove they were factory intercooled, they'll let it slip. Trust me a defect is better than a mandatory EPA compliance check.

Even then those inspections have laxed over the past few years. Initially, they wanted me to return anything none stock or engineered back to OEM. So my turbo is engineered but my manifold wasn't, or ext gate, or inlet, BOV to recirc, no catch can, PCV function test, correct charcoal canister, oxygen sensor, catylitic converter, AFM, no boost control and under 90 db, and if you fail that off you go to Botany for an IM240 to ensure the car passes under emissions in a simulation drive. Then photos are taken and mods recorded, and if your mods deviate from that, fine can me issued. There are of course ways around this too, specific tuning on e85 etc, but best to avoid. Now it is more like Oxygen sensor, PCV, charcoal canister, cat, under 90db, boost control locked. So it's like check, check, check as in visual inspection, photos are recorded. I'm pretty sure that's all, without getting my paperwork out.

Been through the Botany emissions test in the past, it's a bitch. They book you in 5min slots, if you're even a minute late you miss your spot and have to rebook - in which case you usually can't get another spot for two weeks.
Meanwhile the clock is ticking for your deadline to have the defect cleared.
Mine passed without having to change much, but it's still shit.

Last time I failed by 2db, mind you I had a thin plate between last muffler flange and 5 x 10mm holes in it and still failed. So the guy said just bolt a smaller muffler on to pass noise and after that I can do as I please... just if it was to come back the small muffler should be on to match photos.

ok so from you list

your tyres are to big? what are you running?
a pillar gauges
do they meet the guidelines as set out in the adr's
which is basically not above the line of the steering wheel and a sphere of 150mm diameter can't hit them

If its CD5A on the firewall then its a GSR. Another check will be to see if the VIN number on the compliance plate (JMFCC etc) matches the VIN number on the passenger side strut tower top and VIN on the rego papers.
Were the police checking the VIN number as per compliance plate/ strut tower or the Chassis number?
If it is found to be in fact a GSR then the defects can get cleared quite easily if you haven't got any obvious no-no's like venting bov etc.

the tyres are 215/35 R18 I had to change my wheels because I shredded the front left and the tyres I have now where brand new so seemed easier to throw these wheels on

can you not have gauges about the steering wheel on the pillars?

No he only checked the VIN on the compliance plate which Is JMFCC7S41PJ016052 and I just checked the number on the passenger strut and it matches

Deff a aus spec gsr according to the vin also

Jmfcc = model code
7 = manual 1.8 dohc turbo awd
S = GSR
4 = 4 doors
