help plz (hg hh comparison)

hey guys, i bought a new clutch and gearbox and ive finally finished putting it in around working and fuckups...
well everythings on right.. i turn on the ignition i9 hear the starter motor sound but its not turning the motor over, seems to be the motor isnt engaging on the flywheel..
now what ive used is a hg galant gsr box on my hh galant engine.. now i figured out the bell housing was different so i had to hack the backplate to make the started motor fit and it doesnt work...
did the starter motor change from hg to hh? if so ill just go past a wreckers and get a hg starter motor and it should be all good right?
help plz as im dying to drive my car again..
ive also been playting round with the height sensor rods on the ecs system and ive made the computer think its higher then it actually is so it goes lower.. quite cool actually

You should have just stuck with the same model box. That way you know you would have had no dramas.
All you can do is keep trying to match up starters till one works, or swap to the right gearbox.

HG and HH GSR gear boxes have slight differences but not enough to noticed untill you really look.... but the HH does have a different shifter assembly so the throw has to be adjusted.... starters should be the same as well..... if still no good check if the gear box is sitting on the engine flat on the rear...

my HG GSR is running a HH rebuilt gear box every thing was a straight fit with no hassels....

could it be maybe my gearbox is off a magna which would have required a different sized starter motor.? as everything is on correct it sounds stupid for me to take half the car apart again (3rd time)...
