Hey guys

I'm running a vr4 motor in my gsr, gsr ecu chipped, plumb back GFB blowoff, AFM from a magna I believe (the one which is similar/same as the evo ones and has the same plug)

Basically I have a problem with stalling/cut out.

Basically if my revs are high up, lets just say even 5000, and then i put the clutch completely in and chuck it to neutral, the car will stall.
Problems even worse with air con. Say youre driving in first and you come to a stop and clutch in after it was already up to 4-5000rpm, it will just stall.. its been like this for ages but now its pissin me off

this problem also occurs even when i completely take the blowoff off, and block it all off

ive also had the idle control thingy replaced at meek (as i was having issues before where i started the car and it would stall instantly. this idle control thing was replaced and the problem didnt come back, but it still didnt fix my other stalling problem)

base idle is something like 1000rpm i think..

hope that was enough info.

any ideas?

it sounds like an afm problem, do you have a spare or the old gsr one?

any way swap it out and see what happens then........it will most likely not run at peak performance however may at least show wether tha afm is the problem.

other areas to look could be throttle position sensor and try a std blow off valve from an evo. If the car has a lack of power as well as this problem check the exhaust as well to make sure it isnt crushed or blocked

i am thinking you would have all ready done the timing and checked leads and plugs, also that the air filter is not full of crap

good luck

100% the same thing my g/f car does... hers has evo ecu, and afm... ever since she put on the air pod filter and the bov, it does 100% the same thing your car is doing... but i thought it would have been more air flow metre related...

Hey guys, thanks for the input so far

firstly, yes i do have my original GSR AFM - was about to sell it too ! haha lucky i didnt. ill definately try that out

As for the air filter its not a pod its a k&N panel filter in the original box, and its near new. also its not worth trying a standard blowoff valve as the problem has happened when 1) i use to have a hks ssq valve, 2) GFB plumbback valve which im running now, and 3) the problem also happened when i took out the blow off, blocked off the outlets and vacuum.

leads are magnecore and arent that old, plugs werent done too long ago and besides, the car's running fn beautiful besides the stall

ok so AFM looks like a definite thing to try which ill get back to you's on
also wondering, could it be the actual AFM plug maybe just stuffed?

and excuse my noobness on this, but what is, and where is the throttle position sensor, got a pic? because in the event the AFM isnt the issue, next step will be to swap that over-they expensive?

throttle position sensor is on the throttle body, on the opposite end of the shaft to the throttle linkage............dont know on cost

also check idle speed control "plug" is in good nick
