how hard is it to replace the front inner drive shaft boots and is there any quick fix

also wat is the easyest way to take the front bumper of ie where are the screws and do you have to take anything else of

there is a pipe or noozel that comes of the head of the 4g63 on the drivers side mine is connected to some sort of a catch can with a filter on top i have to get rid of this wat do i reconect the nooze/pipe to

thanx

ps how do i block of the bov

block of bov, u need a plate made and bolted up...
(which bov?)

as for the drive shafts, give it to a driveshaft rebuilder..
u can probably change the boot if the bearings are still good, get the parts from mitsu or R&E/ bursons etc etc...

front bumper, depends what bolts have been left on...
there are about 4 - 5 on each wheel side
and 4 big ones that holds the reinforcement to the chassis..

to block off the bov
cut out a coke can in the shape, and bolt in in after the gasket

so

BOV
------------
Coke Can
-----------
Gasket

Pipe

OK to get the A-Spec bumper off, first hit the car with a hammer and curse mitsubishi. Nah, just kidding, it's easy when you figure out where all the bolts are. Much easier than 300zx's. :D

First, take out your indicators. Then, look under your bumper, theres a bunch of what look like screws in big plastic washers. Unscrew them if you can, if not, just push a skinny flathead screwdriver into the screw part (NOT under the washer looking bit, or they can break) and pull out the screw part. Theres also some other bolts under there that connect the edges of the bumper to the bodywork.

Then, unbolt all of the inner guards that connect to the bumper.

Next, at the ends of the bumper that terminate at the wheel arch, you kind of have to wrangle some plastic part away from a bolt, and unbolt it. If it wasn't night time I would take a photo for you, but basically you have to force some plastic parts to undo that part of the bumper. Your bumper should now be hanging down at the back.

Now, the part which involves the swearing. First undo the nuts that are inside the indicator hole. Get a big long extension. Now, you will need an even longer extension if you want to do the last two bolts easily. About a foot long should be adequate (can't remember). If you have removed the headlights or jacked the front of the car up it's easy to see where they are, but basically these last 2 bolts are approximately level with the edge of the "VR4" grille, at the inside top of the bumper. If you stick your hand up in the underside of the bumper on the drivers side (easier side) you should be able to feel them.

Now, just pull your bumper off! It's easier with two people, you can pull evenly at the part where it connects into the chassis.

I just recently discovered both my inner cv boots had split, just days before our track day. It cost me $85 per side to have a drive shaft speciallist do the whole job. It took about 2 hours, drive in drive out.
Make sure you get it done before the grit gets in an ***** the bearings.

Much easier than 300zx's.

lol

300zx's aren't that bad...
it only took me about 2 hours first time... damn foglight bolts that are right up at the top...

the first time i took off my vr4 bumper i actually undid all the bumper skin nuts!!... took me forever..

whats the progress on the car?

progress

well i got the air box stuff and standard bov 2day thanx matt

baz where is your shop i will probly need a hand fittin the air box and makeing it all look legit under the bonnet so if you could give me a location baz that would be great

Haha.. the VR4's bolts were in far more obvious places than the 300zx.. although admittedly it took me forever to find the last 2 bolts, the Zed.. the worst part was taking the lights out to have a look, and then trying to get them back in properly..
