Fukn Evo crankwalk!!! That side journal is foobar, no wonder the big end failed. Thats turned me off using OEM cranks when rebuilding Evo 7 bolt engines. You've gotten only 30,000kms use with an EVO 5 crank (that was fully test, microspolished and balanced. Magnafluxing would be useless for what happened). Youre also only using an Exedy Sports Tuff heavy duty cushion button clutch too (which is kind of heavy but not as heavy as others). Forged cranks for Evo 7 bolt engines from now on :) I wonder if your rod is still good, could be worth getting checked out.

Nope, only time i have foot on clutch while stationary is when im at the drags holdin the revs up

Im against people who sit there in gear with their foot on the clutch

Well now you know #2 rod was knocking because parts of the big end bearing are now sitting in the bottom of your sump lol
Look at the gap between the side journal and the main bearing (see pic).
You'd think that the bearing would wear when the 2 metals come together, not the bloody journal

That is the reason i took that pic, to show the gap, basically the bearing is made out of stronger material than the crank lol

That pics a main no a beb. What bearings? Im guessing something hard like race series ACL's. What do the spark plugs look like? I bet its had det. The thrust surface could of been killed after it had started runnng that bearing and had lack of oil.

The BEBs have cracked as u can see in the pic, the main bearing still looks brand new with no side wear, even the side that ate away the crank lol

Yeh they are ACL race comp bearings, spark plugs are a little on the white side, well looks like #2 rod bearing wasnt gettin enough oil coz the bearing has been spinning, but doesnt look like its been doin it for long as you can still see the ACL part # on the rear

Just went out to the shed, i can move the crank in and out by around 2mm, so its hard against either side of the main bearing
