4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

oh man that is fantastic, and would be Awesome to be able to take my bike somewhere without having to completley dismantling it or having to drive my massive work van instead

Funny you say this!!!!

I have been in contact with Ben from J-Spec about 2 weeks ago.

They have an issue where if you dont get a number of orders in the compliance shops wont take on the compliance work. That is where Bens problem is at the moment there is no compliance place willing to take on the work needed to bring the cars up to compliance.

So I need to help these guys I need 12 confirmed orders Contact me via a PM to discuss how you can get on the list.

The time will be at least 6 months before they come in and another 3-6 months before full compliance as a test car will need to be sourced.

And then we are looking at a cost of around 30k - 50k.

If your interested please pm me and we can start getting a list together I really want one and in 12 months time I will be due to get one so I just need 11 more like me!

not what it seems

I checked out the first part of the test.

That evo wagon is a not quite what you would expect!

What I made out was ARC Radiator maybe intercooler as well, Carbon cold air box could also have after market filter, Tein suspension, After market piping non standard exhaust. Still rocks but! and still enough to change to buy a house instead of the Audi : )

did you think that car was stock?

you could tell by the way the vehicle handled that it was not stock :p

Gooch I was in for it a while back but they took too long.

I am sure that they would sell 12 EASILY, but after the issues that everyone I know has gone through with compliance cars in the past I doubt they will have 12 people say "yes, I will buy one and wait 2 and a half years to get it" (test car, 12 months, find your car and get it here 6 months, and compliance of your car, most likely being the first for a workshop, another 12 months).

I doubt we'll ever see these imported. Finding 12 enthusiasts to buy a fairly specialised cars in such a complex importing situation, while there is a financial crisis on just seems a bit too unlikely for me.

might have to get a friend to buy one and hold it for me.

i hate committing to something that is so uncertain.

Evo wagon update!

Hey folks,

Yesterday I had a conference call with both Kristian (ironchef) and Ben (j-spec) about the technical possibilities of adding the Evo Wagon onto the SEVS database for import approval.

In the guys professional opinion they believe it would be very borderline leaning to the not possible. Whilst the silhouette of the wagon is different to the mass imported Lancer Wagon to differentiate the model including the different VIN Number to the IX they believe the battle would be all uphill.

Some issues also reside around a garage to perform the compliancing and the cost behind it. At this stage and with the current financial status of the industry and the financial status of the world it is most probably not viable to outlay the large amounts needed to comply the Evo Wagon.

Some costs include:
Application from DOTARS: $10-15K
Test Car: $25-45k
Emission testing: $35k each attempt!
This is a ball park effort and does not include the time spent to do the compliance on the vehicles.
The main topic of discussion was the Emissions from the wagon it seems that the laws have changed after 2005 that state a massive reduction in the emissions and whilst we know what was said at the recent EVO X night (http://4gtuner.com/site/showthread.php?t=10433 )that the IX had to be de-tuned to pass the emissions standard. With the extra weight of the wagon and the Japanese ECU the emissions would most probably be way over. And very expensive to test if you fail you will need to fix the issue and then re-submit a new test and another $35k.
So whilst I never like to say never at this particular time the market is not conducive to allowing the opportunity for the EVO Wagon to be complied.
But there is always personal import :p

Sorry guys! In the end we had 6 certain and 2 interested well done!
