I have posted this on ecmlink aswel. Just covering all bases to hopefully get a quick answer. I have been setting my idle settings while car is off. I have set the idle switch pin correctly and have the tps set to .63v. Then I need to adjust the idle speed screw (biss) so the isc motor is set to 30. The problem is no matter how far I wind the screw in or out (not so far as to damage the o ring) the isc just stays set on 120 while the cars running at idle? I changed it for another and found exactly the same thing? Anyone had this happen or have any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Also I was trying to download the evo8 timing map I was kindly sent. The problem is I click on open, find the file, it loads it up fine but wont install to the cars ecu? Says it cant be done?

Watch this mans video's... Best i've found...

However, mine does the same thing with the BISS screw... i havn't replaced mine yet so im assuming my O ring is already rooted, that and my TPS needs replacing.

Haha yeah man that guys a legend. Thats exactly what im doing. Got to the third step and now im stuck lol. Once this isc is sorted at 30. The next step is checking the base timing. As far as I understand (which isnt much) the car should be 5 degrees at idle? Well my car is 750 to 800rpm at idle and is floating between 19 and 21 degrees on the ecmlink? is that normal?

The 5 deg at idle isn't on the ecmlink. It's 5 deg with the timing plug grounded ( via ecmlink ) checked with a timing light on the crank pulley.

Also have you tested the isc's using the test found on VFAQ? That will tell you if they are working.
Are evo 8 maps are listed as a .eda file?

Thanks for that. Will test the isc on on the weekend. I checked the evo8 file and it is an eda file. Is there something wrong with my computer for it not to work?

Ok guys according to ecmlink the firmware is 3.20.115 update and 3.18.47 originally. So really the 1g idle bug upgrade is already there? Also the laptop has windows xp. So am I ment to be downloading Windows (complete install) at the very top of the download page? All I have done previously is load up the disk thats is supplied with the chip.

I normally download the file at the top ( about 20meg or so )
Then I download the update file which is down a little from it. ( about 4 meg? )
That way I am certain that I always that the latest software.

Got a multimeter today. To be honest I wasn't sure how to use it corectly (settings) but after a bit of messing about i managed to get 41.2 on all pins with the multi set to 200 ohms. So my isc is ok i guess. Will have a go at downloads and timing map tomorrow morning. Cheers for all your help so far! I finally feel like I'm slowly getting somewhere.
