Hey guys,

After 200k kms, the intank pump in my GSR has decided to shit itself.

As it's only a prepump, I'm not really worried what I replace it with .. the cheapest, easiest option is the plan.

Anyone know what a stock GSR pump is worth and what their availability is like?

If they're more than $200 .. are there any gotchas to fitting a walbro pump in tank? Will it fit on the standard in-tank bracket and match up with the sock, or does it require modifications?

Thanks lads.

its cheaper to fit a walbro..

they bolt in.. however with a gsr cradle you might need to trim the fuel line on the cradle so the pump has clearance and doesnt hit the bottom of the tank.. the pump rests on the cradle bracket but u will need to use a hoseclamp about 37mm to clamp it to the mounting brackets :)

other then that its real easy.

Jon

Thanks mate, I had an idea the OE part would be more expensive than a walbro.

I'll track one down tomorrow.

they should be about 170ish.. make sure you buy it from a shop not online from someone on ebay!! (cos of fakes)

if you have any hassles tracking one down for that price let me know and ill contact my supplier.

If you were in Sydney, I'd take it .. I need it in the car by Tuesday though, so I don't want to take the risk of couriers/aus post fucking around and delays with bank transfers.

Thanks anyway mate.

If you change your mind, let me know- I can have it in an overnight bag tomorrow!

If not, i'm sure there's a certain sydney workshop that'd have a stock fuel pump or 2 lying around??

ive got a gsr pump and am in sydney
if you want it $20 and its yours
its a used item obviously, and is just the pump, and filter
PM me if your interested

if your going for a pre pump the best option is a volvo intank high volume low pressure pump. i think i paid around $120. ring Petroject in Parramatta.

All good - thanks anyway man. With the noise this thing makes, I wish I had gone down your route.

Anyway, I took the car to the drags tonight, and the high pressure line from the in-tank pump split (just behind that nut that is a bastard to get off).

Has anyone changed these to a flared pipe and hose clamp before? It seems like they split pretty easy when they've gotta come off. I figure it should be all right in my case since it's only feeding the surge, so not under high pressure.
