I look here at these two cars and I see a difference

Is it the rear wing? the white one is JDM,are they much different?

the kit different? the wing def looks bigger on the white one.

Im closely considering buying one of these in the near future, the price is coming down, and the older evos (among other issues) are getting an old feeling to drive.
I heard the E7 front diff is a shiiter and goes occasionally, any truth to that?

I think your right, it must just be the photo, are the brakes and that different from aus to jap?

We usually get robbed of everything good when it comes here.

I didnt know that, so all the 7's are imports, so there is no AUSDM 7 then, woops...

Overheard Ed Ordinsky complaining about his evo 7 one year at Rally Q, he said that they couldn't wait to run the evo 8's as they proved much more throwable in testing.

Shouldnt worry me on the street, im fact its probably a good thing if its less throwable.:D

All 7 GSR's come with front LSD, its a pretty strong unit, plenty enough for 99% of streeters putting out moderate power.

Rear diff is ayc then yeah?
Is there any diff/driveline issues witht the 7's?

I cant remeber exactly what i read, but a couple were either mashing centre or front diffs ,it may have been lack of service/oil changing...from memory.

Jap63 the prices of later model evo's are certainly coming down there's a E6 listed on http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=13831 for around $17,300 landed AND complied that is certainly making the older cars worth less :( and the later models becoming more affordable to own.

Yeah good point

Im in no hurry at this point, I dont know how I'd go buying off J-Spec, you know how us enthusiasts get..I wanna see it and drive it I guess.

Geeesh.... EVO 6's and 7's are becoming like Commonwhores, the more the newer models flood the market the cheaper the older ones get. That is until the early EVO versions become harder to find in excellent condition that their price increases again :) Bang for buck these EVO 6's and 7's are top value if you're into them.

Yeah AYC in the rear unless its RS.

A few seem to pop transfers and the odd rear diff, but thats due to lack of maintenance/low oil in most cases. They are pretty delicate things, and those inexperienced with them tend to pump the oil in and just stop soon as it starts running out the fill plug, however its really tight in there and takes a while for the oil to flow around the nooks and crannys.

The gearbox is the 5sp, so alot stronger then the 6sp which came in the JDM 8 GSRs, 8MRs and 9 GSRs. It will take most things you throw at it.

BTW the ADM 8 is pretty much a 7 with 8 panels and a few trim changes. Has the better head design that the 7 had over the JDM 8 etc. etc.
