KEY REMOVAL-URGENT HELP NEEDED.

hey all,

i drove from my mums house in ingham to my house in tville (100kms) when i whent to get out of the car the key was stuck in the acc position. i rang a locksmith and they said to remove the barrel and bring it in.

HOW DO I DO THAT?

Have you tried pressing the button on the back of the barrel to get your key out?

what do u mean on the 'back' of the barrel.?

To get a key out of a Galant VR4, there's a button you need to press.


Its on the underside of the ignition barrel, at the back........

i was gunna suggest that. But i was unsure. I hope it is the problem. Would be alot easier than taking out the whole barrel!!

If you are new to VR4's, then you wont know that you have to press the button everytime you want to take the key out.


I hope you havent confused this with the key being stuck in the barrel, and you have to rip your ignition to pieces for no reason!!!

yer i thought that, but there is no button, my other galant has a button but this one doesnt,

unless jspec didnt have the botton. cos theres a lil plastic cover where the button is supposed to be.

Button is Broken\missing :shock: JSpecs have the button.
Press the button in (If the wheel has locked - might need to wiggle the steering wheel a bit :? )

Gotta wiggle the wheel while you hold the button in

Yeah,thats exactly what happens

Its happened to me.
Wiggle the steering wheel left to right whilst holding the button in and turning the key back and forth whilst trying to slip it out.

Button probably broken off.

Push it in with a different key.

with the honda's u have to push the barrel in..
nissans have a little button on the top

do ours have a button?
i dont remember..

The buttons towards the bottom and the front of the car.

mine is square and sits just on top of the key barrel to the left and forward of the key.
reachable by your finger as you have the key in your hand
