the other day i went for a strap through the hills behind the gold coast, was all good, just as i was coming back into civilisation i came to a very mild bump in the road, front went over fine, then BANG!!!
it sounded like something had broken, but the car was still driving fine, just seemed a bit bumpier than usual.
so i pull over to see what i can see. i walk around to the passenger side to find the rear tyre up in the arch, lookd slammed! but did indicate a problem..
heres a pic of my konis, guess which one isnt quite wright...
the cir-clip that hold the spring seat in place has cut its way through the shock & come to rest on the break line bracket, which is the only thing stopping the whole spring assembly falling onto my break line/caliper etc!
heres a pic of the damage to the body of the shock
and a pic of where the sping seat ended up.
iv put the shocks which came with the car back in, kyb sr special shocks which accually sit the rear lower by a good inch & are much stiffer than the konis,
i'll be taking the konis back to get a replacement pair, cos its a definate design fault that the cir-clip can cut through the housing like that
