LED illuminated clusters

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

heheh thanks guys, i'd advise you fellaz to find another working cluster to do the upgrade on, that way you can still run around while your waiting for your dash to be finished and considering there age they can break small parts very easy.....

2nd gen

white dials, EL blue with red needles (eg: Apexi EL gauges)

sorry using cell cam so pik kinda crap....

Hey Jayrome, thats wicked man!!!
I want to do something similar for my GGSR.
How did you get SMD LED's in the needles!!??
Thats really cool!
I done a similar thing on my first car (Hyundai which I was going to 4G63T), the LED's aren't cheap either hey. It's really time consuming doing this sort of stuff. I went crazy with the leds and EL wire as well.
My fav is probably the light up gear knob, you can't see it in the pic, but the "12345R" lights up blue.

Here's some pics of my Hundy. Sorry for the crap quality, they were taken from my phone.

In the first pic, you can see the bezel of my shift light between the tacho and speedo.

Back on topic, are those white LED clusters still available from Japan G5RSOL?
I'd be keen for one.

if all goes well.... would anyone be interested in a Carbon Fiber look face with white numbers etc, blue black lit with red needles?

SMD!? Far out, you're good man!
Are they actually mounted on/in the needles?
Cos if they were, wouldn't the wires pull the needle down somewhat, resulting in a slightly inaccurate reading?
I haven't actually pulled one of these instrument cluters apart. Maybe I should have a look see instead of asking stupid questions. Once again Jay, top job.

EDIT: Did you take any photo's of the construction of it?

nah i didnt but its all stored in my head so its all good....

lol nah the LED's aren't on the needles, there under them.... if you take a dash apart and check out how the light spreads accross the cluster you will see how i made the entire cluster blue and seprated the needles to become red.... its simple just strategic...

if only they would work on gsr clusters that looks damm hot as.

if someone would like to supply me one thats busted, but with every thing attached, i would sure give it a go... i'm tempted to buy one just to try it, cause everyone keeps asking.... but then i would have no use for it after, and or wreck a perfectly good one....

this is what happens when you have an abundance of time and LED's on your hands....
