Those inserts provide a simulated LSD effect. 'Phantom Grip'.
LSD is a friction device to limit the differential action. What the phantom grip does is turn your stock spider gears into friction creating devices (exactly the opposite of what the factory designed them for). In order for this device to be effective, the spring pressure must be enough to break the oil film of the thrust washer under the axle gears, causing the gear to be locked to the differential case. When the gear does break free of the case and needs to spin, without a film of oil can only lead to failure.
My opinion is that this type of LSD is only for SUCKERS.

yeah i thought it sounded a little dodgy since i have heard of no one that use this type of thing....oh and why would they sell these things if they just wreck your diff? :?
