Help Support 4GTuner:

sell up? what for? I havent had insurance for 10 years.....

waste of friggen cash, especially on cars worth less than $10,000.

the amount i've saved over the years probably paid for my EVO.

Hmmm, insurance has always been good to me over the years especially since I am so lazy. I am probably ahead of the insurance companies $ wise due to my claims.

Ha shannons, pricks wont cover you unless your 25 as entaran said, so to that I say 'gf' and I'll just stay with racv 3rd party.

well i called shannons, they were about $300 a yr cheaper but there was no "agreed value" lol they just told me "we will be willing to offer you $15,000" which is a lot less than just cars offer me.

both just cars and shannons told me that if there was a crash my car would be inspected by the rta and if there were any illegal mods i wouldnt get a cent. so make sure your cars are engineered.!!!

i went thru a list of the mods / receipts / sent pics and they insured me for $25,000 (agreed value) with shannons and im paying $1074 annually

Yeah I did the same and they were quite happy with that list, but didnt like where it was garaged. I would happily deal with them again as they are the only people I have dealt with that actually know what my car is.

Thats crap, I told them I got done speeding last year doing 72kmh in a 60 zone on Pennant Hills Rd Sydney and he didnt say shit. He said it didnt effect my cover at all. Maybe they dont like insuring you Adrian because YOU ARE HIGH RISK! lol :w00t::p

Im over 30 and it costs me a little over $800 per year for full cover at value of $20,000. Even though I had receipts and proof for spending over double that, they class the converted coupe as a GSR/EVO replica and said that if it ever is a write-off I should be able to buy another decent GSR with the money and transfer my useable parts over lol.. smart c*nts they are. $20,000 wont ever replace the AWD coupe or the money spent on it, but it is at least better than nothing and not insuring it. Im glad I dont pay $2500+ per annum like some people do.

I just got the same result except at about 1800 per year, 20k value ...

are there any other options? <_<

Dont get insurance until you turn 30, otherwise you're paying through the nose like Dre said. Instead of paying $2000+ a year for insurance, put that money aside until you turn 30. By then you'll have saved heaps to go toward a house deposit or something else instead. IF you write of your car in the meantime, its bad luck... but then again, hope for a fixable repair and use the $$ saved to repair it. :)

That really is an great idea, but id just spend it on more mods!:w00t:

It's hard to know what to do, i have full comprehensive insurance but my cars not engineered, so if a have some illegal mods, which its hard not to, insurance may lust laugh at me if i cause a crash?

This has been floating around in my head.....
Is it worth trying to get my vr4 engineered?
My gf's lil brother just got his ke70 corolla engineered after he put a 4age in it along with some other things, it only cost $390. It included a noise test, then an inspection of the integrity of engine mounts ect and passed.
I thought it was much more like $1000+ to get the process done. If it was emission tested it'd blow out.

Now i have 272 cams im not sure if i need emission testing, its all very confusing over here in WA as the workshop that was the only one certified over here were gonna charge $2000 for the test, now ive heard they may even have put this on hold, till they sort it all out.
I was planning to give his engineer a call in the holidays.

Would people recommend opening this kettle of fish? Do you start off with dpi or start with the engineer.

Yes you would need it emissions tested but best to speak to Missile (Timmy) as he's up to date with where the progress of testing facilities are at in WA.

If you KNOW your car is not engineered and has illegal mods, and KNOW that the insurance company wont honour your claim if you are at cause of an accident, then WHY are you paying full insurance for nothing? Thats hundreds of $$ you're throwing away in insurance unless it gets stolen or flooded or something. You might have been better off wuth third party property damage insurance for the time being and put the rest of it away for engineering associated costs and investing in a good 2-way alarm and immobiliser system in the meantime. I dunno, I can understand where you're damned if you do and damned if you dont sometimes.
