Whilst thinking about intakes, I've also been thinking about Evo 3 bonnet vents, making me think even more (I know, I know, I'm thinking too much), about making an air box, like an ARC one (pictured below).

Has anyone thought about making one?

Would it flow enough just having a sealed box with a flat panel filter on the top and the afm inside?

Would there be any issues with this?

In-t-resting....

I remember reading a while ago that people were saying with a panel filter, or any other kind of filer apart from stock, the AFM has trouble reading the air because it isn't swirled around or something.

No idea where I read it, and I never really understood how it made sense

Do you know if it was just the 1G AFM? Or was it the way in which AFM's in general take their readings?

Sweet, cos I'm thinking about getting a 3G

Of course, once again, my issue is that I'll need to have a chipped ECU, and with a chipped ECU, I may as well do injectors, etc at the same time

im pretty sure the honey comb in the afm is designed to straighten the air so i guess it should work fine regardless of afm..

could be wrong though!?!..

u gonna go GM AFM jase??
the hot wire type?

they come in 3" and have no restriction, it also means u could do anything pre turbo...

with the 2G magna AFM, owners generally have to get the Magna specific K&N filter because the generic filters swirl the air. Because of the design of the AFM this causes problems with stalling etc. but for some reason, not with all :?

dodgy mitsu afm thats all i can say.. lol

are the evo's same as the magna's

if so, the evo's use a panel right? or do they use pod?

i know the gsr uses a panel (if i recall correctly)

i sure hope yours isnt like that.....

tharaka is already onto it, but it's a 3g 482 maf.

For reference there is a big writeup here.

But yeah, I can't actually use it until I get a chip .

So I guess I'll do chip, injectors and maf at the same time..

Pic below...

yeah
i just bought a magna afm so im not going to bother with the 3g one from america

next up, some 510cc injectors, or whatever comes up for sale really

i should probably get an exhaust actually

Those 3G MAF's with the harness would work out to be $180 landed in Adelaide..

What do you reckon, worth it? It's a plug in job which is good.. Just need the ECU too.

Yeah I know.

Or a MartyEDIT.

I intend on getting one of them (Engine management options).. just don't know which one... :?

i dont think the ecuedit chips have been calibrated for the hertz range of the 3g maf

interesting :)

i still need to sort out everything i want to do and do it in one big modfest

saves me getting a new chip made every time i change something
