Am about to have another crack at my knackered reverse gear in the w5m33 but thought I would try one more thing first. Does anyone know where I can source a pair of cables from eg, are they the same in a nimbus or other vehicle. I cant see how the cables are causing my problem but you never know and in any case would be quicker to replace the shift cables than strip the box. There is a slight amount of play in the end of the cable on the box end where the small round metal bush is embeded into the rubber on the linkage. Anyone got a pair laying around for sale, borrow to try, or whatever??? :blink:

disconnect cable and select reverse at the gearbox to see if it makes a difference not having cables connected. this will isolate the cable and tell you if it is worth buying new ones
ok. is it ok to move the vehicle whilst the cables are disconnected and reverse gear is selected. I cant see any problem but just checking before I go ahead and endup with more gears knackered than just reverse gear :lol: :lol:
