For that kind of cash i'd be looking at an EVO 6

Your saying there are evo 6's around for 17k?

I do beleive its high in price..havent inspected it though

dont really understand how is running a 2L GSR Galant gearbox either, theyre FWD......

That's a bloody nice car, but for that price, i'd really want it to be running a 2ltr...

Yeah one of the first thoughts i Had..

The 4G93 aint to bad though with the internal work done though yeah?

This motor has been strengthened a fair bit...
I think its the stock rods that are weak

if its a strengthened 93t then you shouldnt have any dramas.
but it is highly priced compared to GSR's these days.
looks like he's got all the bling, but id want to know what sort of brand names have gone into the thing before I made any decisions.
Also doesnt look like genuine evo guards to me.. (even tho he stated its a genuine body kit) so thats another thing id be checking out, what sort of genuine parts gone onto it..

dont think id spend 17k on a gsr..

bro theres a few evo 4's going for around that price..

and if you want cc.. why dont you look at getting an evo 3..?

looks nice, I dont understand the gearbox either, unless it has a full VR4 or EVO drivetrain.

I dont think its too expensive either, considering the motor is built. the front bar is a fiberglass jobbie and it still has the stockie GSR guards.

Id want a full inspection and to take it for a good drive though, just in case theres any gremlins.

Yeah ive noticed that there are a few IV's getting cheap, i dont know what theyre like though, its the first year they swapped the motor arpound etc..and you know what they say about major changes, buy the second series etc...the E1,2,3, 4G63 is proven and I think the E3 shape is iconic..E3's are nice, they seem to be hard to come by and overpriced, and an insurance drama..

How can u tell about the guards? the real deal wider? and the bar is fibreglass? just can tell by looking..?

What a genuine E3 kit worth to buy?

he stated in the advert galant gsr gearbox, like wth!!, must be FWD if its running a ggsr gearbox..

theres more of a flare in the evo guard compared to the gsr guard.
theres an indent in front bar where it meets the guard.
Its not so much how much it costs.
Its trying to find one these days which is the main problem.
you could be waiting up to 6 months even for one from cvap or wreckers of a similar nature.

Some of you guys are kidding arent ya? I'd take a schmick and worked GSR over a stock EVO 4-6 any day! Sure you can get an EVO 4 and maybe a 6 for that price (which I doubt 6's are that cheap) but why? The GSR looks nicer, goes harder and had loads more money spent on it. As time goes by you watch the popularity and price of GSR's and EVO 1-3's climb as good ones become more scarce to find and I bet they will be worth more than a 4-6. Take the $$ and year model out of the equation and look what you get for your money.

Yep, I agree - I would take a worked GSR or early model Evo in a heartbeat before I would even consider an E4 (E5's and 6's don't fit within this price bracket so it doesn't apply). Car's like this will obviously have to be closely inspected to see that you're getting exactly what you pay for, but IMHO, the point is, it still retains the standard 4G93T (not that there's anything particularly wrong with that) but I have seen similarly powered/modified 4G63T 'enhanced' GSR's in similar condition advertised for less than that...

Thats a fair summary, but there's no way that this GSR is even worth $15k.

I'd rather have a 6 any day of the week! They are 2.0, look better than a fibreglass kit, handle better, newer, Recaros, OZ's, Brembos, better/easier re-sale value, and you get to be accepted in the cool group on EGO-OZ :):):)

I have seen them as low as $17k, believe it or not! This car was advertised @ $16,900 for a while.......

that gsr is quite pricey, but im sure the guy has spent more than double that!
evo6's go for low-mid 20s; when you see a cheap one you have to ask yourself 'why is it so cheap?'. At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

As much as i love the look of CC's, id rather save afew extra $ and grab an evo 6. As Dre mentioned, they're newer and better in every way.

Hmm...well it's obvious the seller wants some of the money
he's spent on it back. Just me, but for $17,500 I'd want either
a 4G63T transplant or an Evo 1,2,3 driveline with front + rear lsd's.
And a 2L Galant gearbox? Or does he mean 2L VR4 g-box?

Still looks quite nice though.
Just not my cup o' tea.

A car is worth as much as someone is willing to pay!

Yeah you could by a stock GSR for $7k....

Add up the bill when you get the car you want it and see what the total amount to!

lol . Seems like that sometimes doesnt it? But they do have a great forum and have some well planned activities :)

Recaros you can buy and fit. Brembos you can buy and fit. The AYC and handling is a different story. But most cars are road cars and dont go circuit racing so why pay big $$ for a shiny new dick when your existing one goes just as hard? lol :D
