Meek cooler piping kit?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

no but i want it.

but

how hard would it be to make ur own piping kit, knowing that autobarn etc hav decent quality silicon bends in all shapes n sizes and then u just need some aluminum pipe and cut it to size.

has anyone done either?

 autobarn IC piping kit thats a joke why would you.

Chalk And Cheese, Pears and apples sorry

I have a set just waiting to finish off the 63 then it will be installed togeather ;)

ive got it on my gsr (vr4 motor with evo 2 front mount)

what did you want to know about it

it seems a fair bit lighter and never had a blowout

the piping route was the same as evo

performance difference ? for me its hard to say because i only had the original evo piping running to the 1.8 motor, and i got this piping kit when i put in the 2L

but he gets the pipes anodised if you want, i done mine red

yeh i enquired, by the time u get em anodized and include all the clamps and joints and the induction pipe as well its gone over the 1k mark, is it worth the cash really over standard evo piping?

Has anyone here got the meek cooler piping kit on their evo?

Go and see Darren (TRIKFAB). The meek kits are very very expensive IMO :?

if you want his number PM me.

it really depends on your budget,
did you want it in stainless? alloy? mild steel?

i'd budget $500.00 - $1000.00,
you have to consider the time it takes to make these kits...

what turbo do you have?
what throttle body?

what about intake pipe?

You really get what you pay for I think.

For what you get, and the quality, I think the Meek kit is pretty well priced. Anodising isn't essential, so its an avoidable cost.

You could spend $500-600 and get mild steel cooler piping and then get it zinc coated to prevent it from rusting and it would be fine, but I'd expect the welds not to be all that flash, and mild steel is heavier than aluminium... if you really want to be anal.

The Meek kit might be a few hundred dollars dearer, but it's guaranteed to fit first time, and you don't have to give your car to a mechanic for a week to get the pipes made up.

I just wish the Meek kit would suit my turbo set up... :(

Matress, don't you have a pte 50 trim? I have the same turbo and a meek kit... your turbo has a straight outlet, not the 90 degree bend like on 2G's, right? Why not get a 45 degree silicon/rubber bend?

are you running an external wastegate?
do you have any photos?

anodising is only like $70 extra... so it doesnt really affect the cost all that much...
and the kit doesnt look cheap with 100 welds all over it, and fits perfect... well worth it IMO

as for its advantage over the stock piping... i couldnt tell you, i think its perfect for someone who wants to fit a front mount and needs a piping set.

Sorry Mat, my turbo is clocked like a 16g, I assumed that yours would be the same as mine.
does the compressor outlet hit the wastegate actuator though?
im very curious to see a photo! :)

I'm not really concerned about if they use alloy or stainless, as long as it flows well and looks good.

$800 - $1000 was pretty much what i expected to pay.

I've just got the standard TDO5 16g turbo and standard evo II throttle body.

I am using the ARC Airbox setup with airflow meter and so i will look at getting the intake pipe made up aswell.

The only thing that i need to look into is if it can be adjusted to suit my intercooler inlets and if it will fit behind my new radiator.

At this stage, I think I'll order the Meek kit and fit it up. If it fits and I'm happy with it, I'll get someone like Trickfab to make me an inlet pipe to suit. If it doesn't fit, There will be a brand new intercooler piping kit for sale in melbourne!

Mat, I'll take as good a picture as I can for you if I get home early enough tomorrow. The compressor housing is so big that the water pipe needed to be crushed to fit. The wastegate actuator seems to fit perfectly though? Didn't yours come with an actuator? I haven't seen it for a while, maybe someone made an extra bracket for it.. we'll see :D

VSthis, I have a quite large trust intercooler, and theres no worries with it... is your radiator massive compared to the stocker?

I reckon with the meek kit they give you less pipe, and expect you to use long silicon bits to make it fit if you have a small intercooler (ie, a japspec intercooler would need even more silicon to fit with it), makes it more universal, I suppose. Also I guess they figure if you're going to drop that sort of money on a piping kit you will have an aftermarket (and probably large) intercooler to begin with.
