Woohoo!
Looks like ive got a run in this event. Missed an entry at first, only 30 car field but codriver Jenna Kellys driver pulled out so we are running together.

Brenton, looks like im using your notes from last year mate! Any thing ya wanna tell me?

Unfortunately i dont think i'll have time to swap to the evo drive train but i'll see how i go.

haha-they are Ross Runnalls prepared notes, so just trust them!!!

Is going to be a great event - if there's ppl here that haven't been to a rally before, you should come to this for a taster! Very close to Bright (bring the missus for a weekend). Some awesome roads, but will require a bit of walking to get in to spectate. Very fast downhill end to one of the stages-we pulled about 175 in the Mirage last year!

I think there should be a Team 4G Evo cruise to have a look! Then you can drive back over Hotham to Melb via Bairnsdale.

Come on guys!!! :)))

Had a great day, good fun little rally. Approx 64kms competitive. 8 stages. Up & Down the mountain, repeated twice in both directions.

Have only previously done pacenotes on a 1-6 system and this was written as 1-10 but made sense, a safer without a proper recce. We just had 1 slow convoy run through.

Had a big spin into a stall on stage 2 in some rough rocky downhill stuff and lost some time. Then left rear dms failed and pissed all its fluid out on the 2nd last stage so was behaving a bit dodgy after that but all in all pretty happy with the day.

Result was ok for a bog stock standard GSR with no car prep since the last rally other than a wash!, considering the calibre of some of the front running cars. Bloody hell, Eli Evans changed a gearbox at service, i havent done that in the 4 years ive had the car!

The top 5 are all pretty serious punters in bloody quick cars and were well ahead of the rest of us. Then theres only about 30 seconds between 6th -12th place.

Hope to put in evo driveline before next event for a bit better drive ratio and LSD.

Have some incar footage i will post up as soon as i figure out how!

Penny Swan/Val Swan Toyota Corolla DNF(4) Brakes jammed on
Jesse Robison/Samantha Robison Subaru Impreza WRX DNF(3) Broken driveshaft

Should be fixable ( I hope!) Might need your old Bilstiens!

Yeah Jesse seems to have some dramas. He's quick when its all working right though. Be nice to see him get a good clean run for a while and get the results he deserves.

Brenton did good!

awesome, that came out really well for a camera phone!!

nothing worse than when the intercom doesnt work properly, in our car its usually because ive forgoten to plug myself in! woops! (that didnt make for a happy co-driver!!)

I wish we had rallysprints like that here!

so are u doing ROM now? or instead u should come over for Kuitpo Rally!!

Dunno whats next. Wifey is pregnant and getting anxious about me being far away for whole weekends. RoM is getting close to when shes due so i might be pushing it! Maybe some time off to pull the car down and build it up properly for next year but i would like to get another 1 (or2!) events in before bubs is here.

We had a ripper of a run. Got our boost issues sorted after SA and were on it! Very happy to be within 0.8 secs/k of Eli by the end of the day. Just magic roads-especially the downhill!! Fast!!!!
Should have a couple of stages on youtube tonight.
Good to meet you Trev-car looks really really nice-good job! Glad you had a good run. Thought it was great that the event ran without a single crash-shows how good the use of pacenotes is!
Brenton

cool cant wait for some more vids! ..

i wish we had rallysprints on actual stages here in SA, all the rallysprints we have are at a private property, so all the tracks are small and boring..

Thanks Brenton.

The notes were good just a pity we couldnt do a 2nd run at a bit more speed, i had trouble getting the best out of the recce at such slow spped & no visibilty due to the dust, would have paid to be 1st car on the recce runs!

Heres some pics of us from the weekend. (also posted in members rides thread)

Good video Brenton. Youve got a lot of extra info in your notes. What do you mean when you call "visual". I assume just that the corner is clearly visible an can be driven as you see it, eg. no suprises......
I like the call "hug" too, definatelty helps when you know you can ride the gutter on the inside of a bank like that. I'll keep watching your stuff for more tips.
Gotta love pacenotes, i enjoy the drive much more than routecharts, or even worse, maps!

Your car gets up n boogies off the start line.
Makes mine look damn slow!

haha-would you believe it's a bog stock evo 6 engine. Has done 107,000k's and all we've done is fit a restrictor and changed spark plugs. Doesn't even have a Ralliart computer! :p Running std boost etc.

Visual means to brake when you can see the corner. Hug is different to what you're thinking. You're thinking of 'stay in'. Hug means a corner is approaching and you need to hug the corner you're in to get the best line for the next one.

Maybe I should run a pacenote school... hehehehehehe ;-)

Good luck-when't the next event? Akademos will be great practice for more on notes.

Well it looks a lot quicker than a bog stock gsr! Shit mines done 128,000kms. I'm badly limited by the pissy turbo & intercooler they have, so want to do an evo conversion on it.

Ah yep, makes sense with the notes. Its a real art to get the most out of pacenotes. I keep it simple, but its all that extra info that gives you extra speed. Sounds like you guys have got a real good system going.

Hope to do either Aka or RoM.

yeh pace notes are awesome, i woudnt wanna do an event with out them!.. Its great having a full pace noted series here in SA. We are thinking of making the trip for akademos next year tho.

As for kms or car has done just under 30,000... but all of them are as a rally car, as it was built new For michael guest in 1996. But it has been through a few new motors, there is about 5 diffrent eng no.'s in the log book, we put a fresh motor with about 20k on it last year.
