hey guys

im quite happy with this install
although i thought it would have been quite difficult being a 300zx and all but i guess after doing them a few times u get used to the angles / you get more of an eye for these stuff..

first time on my vr4, my pipes were nasty!!!..

I'm considering buying a welder and doing more of these..

here are some pics

i dont have a welder so i dropped off the bits at the exhaust place to weld..
picking them up this morning..

ill post pics of the finished product!

i love it when things go right first time!..

aiming for 12's with bolt ons in the 300zx...
and i personally love these cars..
so much torque..
comfy
one of my favs in the nissan family.. (very underrated)

got any pics of the piping and stuff baz?
did you get it done in mild or stainless?
i'm going to need some done soon aswell... let me know a price you think you could do it for, plus mounting the cooler... I'm awaiting a price from Chris Meek aswell to see if one of his kits will match up to my cooler.

might be a stupid question but does having two pipes into and out of the cooler give it better effect?

ah yeah i know that but if u split the pipe into 2 pipes that go into the cooler? would that prove any good or just useless?

here is the finished product!

got it done today..
perfect fit

painted black for stealth.. (should paint the cooler also)

as a result, more lag... but ALOT more top end!!.. just keeps on going..
need to up the boost still.. still running the stock 7psi

i ordered the hardcore super massive type clamps in 2.5", but they bloody sent me the 3" ones... so i had to use crappy clamps..

hopefully ill get them soon....
dont like the use of these clamps on intercooler piping..

OLLY:
the reason its got 2 inlets / outlets is because it has 2 turbo's..
the 300zx uses a V6 which also has 2 seperate inlet manifolds (2 x 3cylinder manifolds) therefor its pretty much like having 2 x 3cylinder motors...

with the gtr's and supra's.. they have a straigh six and one throttly body / inlet manifold therefor 2 can go into 1...

as for splitting, on a single turbo car, maybe it would help distribute the air equally over the cooler but that could be done with end tank design anyway..

next mod.. dump pipe / boost gauge / boost / safc..

i've done some reading and with the listed mods, they should make close anywhere between 180 - 250kw's at the wheels..

Holy **** that looks awesome mate, nice and clean.

But it's hardly stealth... the HUGE ASS cooler and blue hoses give it away

I might of missed it, but is it auto or manual?

and wind that boost up :D

How much did it end up costing?

Things to say...

Front mounts on 300zx's are a whole lot of trouble if you don't replace the lost airflow. This can be accomplished through two measures both of which are more or less considered "required" if you add a front mount.

Measure 1: Buy a heavily vented bonnet.
Measure 2: Get a fluted nosecone

also you can get a radiator air guide if you wish.

300zx's are NOTORIOUS for cooking the motors due to insufficient engine bay cooling. I've personally seen this happen 3 times on the 4 zed's I know with front mounts.

Also, the 300zx responds better to 2 inch cooler piping compared to 2.5 inch cooler piping. Top end isn't much affected and you get a far stronger mid range.

its still using the z32 afm so its using a 3" pod filter (which is quite small)

the front bar covers the thing up nicely so its quite stock looking.. which is good these days..

he's owned this zed for 6 years now and this is his first engine mod!!
cant believe it..

Mm.. Z32. Love them. Anyway, to minimise lag, wouldn't it be (obviously too late now, just an afterthought) better to have two long skinny intercoolers? In some car magazine I was reading a guy had twin turbo'd a focus, and he had a big intercooler and a little one (the car had two different sized turbos).

The two cores on that big intercooler are completely seperate. The air doesn't flow from upper to lower.

it is pretty much like 2 skinny coolers
effectively, its a height of 150mm x width of 300mm x 75mm thickness for each turbo..
